Feyden Forrest

Home to a large number of intelligent beasts and Fey these creatures use the constantly shifting maze of trees to ambush any humanoid force who is foolish enough to venture deep into the forest, however there are a few settlements that are close by which the Fey and Beast have accepted as part of there eco system but that does not mean they have a good relation ship. the human children get lured into the forest every now and again and hunters both hunt the beasts and get hunted by the beasts. There have been 3 attempts in the history to remove the fey forces from the forest whole armies have gone missing in the forest but the losses on the opposing side are unknown in addition there has been a attempt to counter attack by a group of pixies in the past where thousands died pushing in the direction of Docklen they successfully reclaimed a city known as Fargone but after the losses they experienced there thinner force wasn't enough to protect there large area the forest know covered and a large number of pixie settlements where burnt before they could defend them selves.

History

The 4 battles of Feyden First; the great march; a force which the crown believed to be overwhelmingly powerful was sent to kill all the creatures in the forest and they had a week to do it, what they did not expect was the how organized and how fast they would get attacked there where five survivors a group of foot men at the back supposedly after an ambush the back of the army began to rout (this is not a punishable offense as there are spells and such which cause fear and it is not possible to tell if the fear was caused by a spell or not) but of the at least 100 that routed 20 made it out the forrest and only 5 manage to avoid getting dragged back in or killed attempting to flee, one recounts "some soldiers threw down there weapons and prostrated themselves begging for there lives this didn't even slow the pace at which they where killed and those who fled where lead into traps and more forces, it was brutal I don't even know if the enemy took a single loss" the five who escaped later died killed by a venomous snake only a few months after escape. Second; The First Burn; The Crown decided to change tactic almost a decade later they attempted to burn the forest down to the ground using fire magics flaming torches gunpowder and any thing else that would burn. after burning a few Acers on the south side of the forest something unexpected happened the flames just extinguished the crowns forces relight the fire and as soon as it seemed to be spreading the fire stopped and turned on the Crowns forces 17 pillars of twisting fire focused the mages then the started to sweep up the remaining soldiers there where no survivors it was believed that the battle was lost in only a minute but as there was no one left to report back all we have is tales of those who clamed to see it happen in the distance. after this attempt failed the crown made a kree to all generals and kings that a war on Fayden forest was to never be enforced ever again as I quote "The lives of man are worth more than that of the fey and beast in the forest even if one man lost there life to kill 100 Pixies boars and treaents it would not be worth the loss, and in addition it is much more likely that the forest still has tricks up there sleeve and for that reason entering more then 100meters into the forest is a death sentence not only for those who enter by there families as well." Then; Counter attack and fall of Fargone nearly a year later a large number of pixies and sprites where spotted leaving the forest described as "like a giant wave of locust flickering except they sparkled like the sun and flickered in and out of existence. It was hard to miss like they wanted to be seen" the force flew down on Fargone killing people and burning the town young old women and children none where spared the attack took hours and many pixies where killed but while the attack was happening with all the focus on the pixies and sprites no one noticed that the forest itself was joining the battle the forest grew into existence heading in the direction of Fargone it was believed that about 500 pixies and sprites lost there life taking fargone but the force continued onward to docklen and the forest followed but when the force arrived at docklen a few mages where they and they eliminated the forces with the same brutality that the Fey and shown to them the force was burned in but a few seconds and those that survived where hit with a volley of arrows over 3 thousand fey bodies where found Around the same time; counter attack More Fey fall a group of simple group of farmers amassed a force with torches they new where the pixeis and sprites where spotted most and knowing that most of them would be missing they attacked a few lost there lives to beasts but they managed to burn 13 pixie and sprite settlements before they where informed that the pixies where coming for them they fled and they escaped with there lives and odd thing to happen but a far worse fate waited for them. the 20 who survived where cursed there wives would die during the birth of there third child and there first son would wonder into the forest at the age of 12 never to be seen again this curse was carried over from generation to generation until they either took there own lives refused to have children or searched for help from the church (those who did this where killed soon after the curse was removed once again by venomous snake). after this final battle it seemed like both sides had decided the fight was not worth it and the crown church and Feyden forest lived at "peace" for centuries
