Northport transitioned from a settlement under the control of the Church of Down to a Free City in 3 CE, when it became apparent the Church was not in a position to maintain it's holdings amongst the continents.

Geography

Located at the southern-most tip of Mares, it is the closest city in Mares to the Island of Down and is still the principal trading port as well as a stopping place between Ludde and Matten.
