The Rose Pantheon
In the beginning, there was only The Rose, and from that Rose, four brothers were born. The first was short and sturdy and was named Dwarf. The second was tall and resilient and called himself human. The third was slim and tall and called himself Elf. The fourth, short and slim, was called Halfling, because his formation took half the time as that of his brothers. These four were called Gods and would form others in their image. Dwarf began with the creation of large and uneven slabs of land which he found pleasing, and called mountains. Human and Halfling together created smooth lands with rivers and oceans. Elf, while his brothers formed land, began to form the Elfkind, and after the first Elfkind walked on land, he grew trees for them to live, and hide from his brothers who were angry that he had not aided them in forming land before people. Human was angry, and those he formed in his image, Humankind set out to cut down the trees of the forest for their settlements. Halfling too took to the creation of Halflings, but having sympathy for the Elvenkind, persuaded Humankind to stop their vengeance. Dwarf was the next to create and with memory of stone, instilled in Dwarvenkind a distrust for Elves. The Dwarves settled in the Mountains and mined the passages inside them, far away from Elves.
