The Church of Down
The Church of Down was founded by Saint Paten of Elk, who received the Blue Rose from the Rose Pantheon, opening the doorway between the mortal world and that of the heavens. With the assistance of Malachy Down and the Down family, Paten built the Cathedral of the Blue Rose on the Down Island and founded the Elk Priory on the Island's western side.
For centuries, the Church of Down was the principal authority in both the spiritual and civil realm. World leaders took pilgrimages to the Cathedral of the Blue Rose, known as Down Cathedral before assuming sovereignty of their peoples. Even after the Downquake, which sunk the majority of the Island, and all of the western side into the sea, the Church wields considerable influence in the day to day lives of the faithful.
