The Dreamwalker, Nalani

Goddess of Darkness and Night

Her presence is as inevitable as the prophecies woven by her true oracles. Even in the daylight, she is in every shadow. In every pit where Auros’s light cannot reach. In the darkness when you close your eyes. Races without the ability to see in the dark have always feared tenebrosity, but others recognize that the darkness is not the absence of perception but rather, the alteration of perception. The moon is said to be her third eye as she gazes over all of Evara.

Altered perception is what allows the Dreamwalker and her devout to see the threads of fate laid out by Erela. The Grey Maiden may have the monopoly on fate, but it is with the Dreamwalker’s help that you can see what’s coming for you.

Nalani appears as a purple-skinned humanoid with milk-white eyes. A third eye with a golden iris stares from the center of her forehead. She wears a gown seemingly cut from the night sky itself, its tattered hem hiding her feet.

Tenets of Faith

  • Embrace the dark, for it is without sight that you can truly understand yourself and experience the world.
  • Dreams and memories are sacred conduits. If you can dream it, it can become real.
  • Open yourself to the secrets of the universe and they will reveal themselves to you. Secret knowledge is meant to be shared at crucial moments - moments that can tip the scales of fate.
  • Don’t see the world in sharp contrasts of good and evil; try to understand its many shades.

Holidays

Lunar Festival

Despite its name, the Lunar Festival is a masquerade ball. Held on the island Llyria, the Lunar Festival is hosted once every Blue Moon. Quite literally. Due to the rarity of a Blue Moon, this festival only occurs every 2-3 years. The festival is dedicated to the Goddesses responsible for the founding of Llyria - Leverett, Rydia, and Nalani - and also serves to cleanse the island of any negative energies.

Other Information

  • It is commonly said that people in comas are “Walking with Dreamwalker”.
  • Moonrabbits and Kalashtar are her favored species.
  • The Dreamwalker has a reputation for being a gossip and tales have been spun in the mortal realm of the drama caused between the Gods due to her "spilling the tea".
  • Because her presence is ubiquitous, she is associated with insects, which are also inescapable.
  • Nalani does not get along with the Grey Maiden. Mortals live short lives riddled with doubt and anxiety. They worry about everything, from money to love to what could be lurking in the dark. If you have the power to ease the burdens of their fleeting existence and reassure them that they are making the right choices, then keeping that information secret from them is cruel.
