EVERA2023 in Evera | World Anvil

EVERA2023

I will have a lot to do this year.

  • As for Evera, I would like to make it a completely system-independent world (Currently, D&D 3E, 3.5E and 5E and other systems based writings are also available here, mostly private articles, but still.)
  • In addition, I would like to make the world (for now only) bilingual. I made the new pantheons entirely in English, as they were partly based on translations of my own writings, so I couldn't publish them under Worldember, but I will soon.
  • I really like the new headers and other illustrations I've put together over the past year using AdobeExpress. For now, unfortunately, this is the maximum I am capable of in digital art. I will probably make many more of these.
  • I really want to finish several short stories set in Evera. I've already started the work, I usually have trouble finishing it...

10 articles from WorldEmber2022

Fateless
Condition | Dec 4, 2022

Beings, places, or items beyond the reach of Fate, and a real propensity to throw it's machinations into chaos.

  • I liked how it was down to the point, and the basic idea itself is extraordinary. The layout is also great.
  • Lesson: Maybe I shouldn't try so hard to write The Silmarillion Two for Evera...
A Brief Introduction to Witchcraft
Document | Dec 9, 2022
  • I admit, as soon as I opened the page, I fell in love. The colors, the font, the layout are professional work that I still have to master. I especially liked the content tree on the sidebar. I myself started using icons this year, but only for the titles of the articles, I didn't use icons in them according to my memories.
  • Lesson: I should working more on my layouts, not just the content. Maybe I can move away a little from the original WA templates?

Desert elf
Ethnicity | Mar 11, 2024

Meet one of the most resilient and bravest elf tribe in Yeia. They are called "Sand Lords" by their neighbours and not without reason.

  • Thoroughly prepared, well-thought-out work. Wrapping and formatting help the reader navigate the long text. Maybe I would have moved parts of the main text to the sidebar after the Summer Camp experience, but that's a personal opinion. I loved the idea of the usually forest themed elves in a different environment (I saw the Snow-elves on the sidebar, but I'm a veteran Skyrim player, so at least the name was familiar).
  • Lesson: I might put more pictures into the articles, for better visualization.

Waffles
Item | Dec 18, 2022
  • Well, I can't eat waffles anymore (at last not store-brought, but making a gluten-diary-sugarfree batter is a nightmare), but I like the article. Nice layout, well-written and tasteful. 10/10.
  • Lesson: Oh no, I just like it. It's fun, simple, pretty.
  • Very nice, original writing. It encourages me to move more boldly away from my previous foundations (which is mainly Elders Scrolls, Tolkien and D&D).
  • Lesson: It's very inspiring, I definitely want to add more to my existing world and mostly I want to break away from previous constraints. A lot of work, but it will pay off in the end, I hope.
Tea Witch
Profession | Mar 16, 2024
  • Just WOW. This one was different from the others I read, maybe, because I mainly focused on "classic" fantasy, and I feel this one more like pop-art (or something like that, but definitely different from most of the other layouts and colors). Overall: I like it, I was just surprised. And I need to add: I'm a huge fan of tea and tea-leafs and even all kind of flower teas. Well, I deviated slightly from the subject (perhaps it is 0:30 AM here...). SO.
  • Lesson: More LORE into my individual works. (Where I wrote this last time? :'D)

Gauntlet
Tradition / Ritual | Dec 12, 2022

A popular strategy-based card game originating in Melior that's enjoyed even beyond the rifts.

  • This is something I never done, but I love the idea and all this work, it's so good. I will show my players this game. I'm sure, that they will love it!
  • Notes to myself here: This is a complex work in a good, easy-following layout. Plenty pictures, icons and colors in it.

Tai, great orc chief
Rank/Title | Dec 27, 2022

A Tai is the highest military leading position of the orcs. Becoming one takes a goal, effort and willpower. Staying one takes even more of these three.

  • Nice, informative article. I love the little bar at the top, it's a content tree, I guess? I only miss some "spelling aid" from the "Examples of lesser Tai" paragraph.
  • Lesson: Links, fantasy expressions and phonetic descriptions that help to pronounce names in a uniform manner are important. Longer text should be broken up with images (or icons) and shorter paragraphs can also be placed well on the sidebar if there is a lot of empty space there.
Limani Trading Master
Rank/Title | Dec 24, 2022

One needs more than extensive knowledge and mastership of the trading craft to become the head of the largest merchant guild in Eshil.

  • This one is really close to what I want to achieve in my articles. Nice, good layout, pictures and links, all in the right place. Even a simple thing can be original and beautiful.
  • Note to myself: Keep up!
  • For the last one, an other extremely professional article, I'm so glad I find this! It's so detailed! I love all the artwork, and the description.
  • Lesson: Think a bit more outside of your box... I mean, I was like, I need all natural resources as independent articles, before I can distribute them around my world. Do I? And what if they cost more or less regionally? I already spent days for the different gemstones - still W.I.P. -, but I really need that? (I'm not so sure now.)

My New Year's Resolutions for 2023

  • I want to constantly work on renewing and translating Evera - if possible, extracting a new detail every day.
  • At the same time, to improve my English language skills. My biggest difficulty is that I can't always express myself in a foreign language as diversely as I can in my native language, because my vocabulary is limited. (If anyone knows an English synonym dictionary page, please write a comment! I didn't trust Google...)
  • In any case, I would like to complete a short story with the tale of Sir Laspdyel Pendragon in the first quarter of the year.
  • In the foreseeable future, I would like to create a new Vasanna (formerly Fiore) map for the world, and I would also like to see detailed maps of the individual counties later this year. I would definitely like to prepare at least the maps of the settlements related to the short stories.
If I write anything else here, I will almost certainly not have time for it, so when these are finished, then I can take on new tasks with more courage.

Author's Notes

I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone and start writing as much as possible in English. This is about my third round of attempts, the first was the world of ISEACTICA, and the second was to start some drafts of articles and short stories...
