Druidic Language

A cryptic, melodic dialect used by the Druids of Region - Moyenne. It is often associated with nature and the spirit world. This language is said to be taught by the spirits themselves and is often spoken in hushed tones.   Commonly used in prayer, meditation, and when performing rites that involve summoning or communicating with spirits. It includes many idioms related to nature, such as “whisper of the wind” meaning a subtle hint or message.

Writing System

The Druidic writing is symbol based and are most often used to mark a tree or stone in the wild. It is a combination of signs. The first sign is a directional symbol. The middle symbol is the topic of the message. The third section is a collection of 3 symbols that act as a modifier for the topic of the message. These symbols are stacked on top of each other.   Whole Structure of the Combined Signs: [Directional] + [Feature] + [Modifiers]   Example: North + Lake + (Big, Bear, Safe) might mean "To the north is a lake guarded by a large bear who will do no harm to a Druid."

Phonology

Vowels: Druidic features a range of vowel sounds that are soft and melodic, echoing the sounds of nature. Long vowels are common, creating a fluid, musical quality. Vowels: /a/, /e/, /i/, /o/, /u/ Long Vowels: /aː/, /eː/, /iː/, /oː/, /uː/   Consonants: The consonants are gentle, with a preference for fricatives and nasals over plosives, to maintain the language's soft, whispering quality. Consonants: /m/, /n/, /ŋ/, /f/, /v/, /θ/, /ð/, /s/, /z/, /ʃ/, /ʒ/, /l/, /r/   Druidic avoids harsh consonant clusters and prefers combinations that are easy to glide over.

Morphology

Word Formation: The language uses a combination of prefixes and suffixes to modify root words. Prefixes often denote natural elements or spiritual concepts, while suffixes modify tense, mood, or plurality. Prefixes: "Eli-" (spirit), "Lora-" (nature), "Vira-" (life) Suffixes: "-an" (diminutive), "-ith" (past tense), "-or" (plural)   Compounding: Compound words are common, combining roots related to nature and spirituality to create nuanced meanings.   Example: "Loraeli" (nature-spirit), "Virathor" (lives/present beings)

Syntax

Sentence Structure: Druidic typically follows a Subject-Object-Verb (SOV) order, reflecting its emphasis on the subjects and objects of nature. Example: "The spirit (subject) the tree (object) protects (verb)."   Modifiers: Adjectives and adverbs usually precede the nouns and verbs they modify. Example: "The gentle spirit (subject) the ancient tree (object) silently protects (verb)."   Questions: Formed by adding a rising intonation at the end of the sentence and sometimes by adding the particle "sha" at the beginning. Example: "Sha the spirit the tree protects?"   Negation: Achieved by inserting the particle "no" before the verb. Example: "The spirit the tree no protects."
