The Council of Tal'dorei
The Tal'Dorei Council is the main ruling body of Tal'dorei, a former autocracy ruled by a sovereign (sometimes referred to as an empire), and now a Republic that counts former allies among its member states. Each member state or city-state is allowed relative independence but has a unified set of overarching laws, trade policies, national defense, and regulation of the arcane.
The Council's executive is a Sovereign, selected for ten year terms by the council. Salda Tal'dorei, the previous ruler before the implementation of the new Republican government, was unanimously elected upon the formation of the Republic, and again on its second election, leading critics to point out that very little has changed.
The Tal'dorei family would remain the royal heads of state even if Salda or her children were to lose an election and no longer be the heads of government.

To create a centralized umbrella for common defense, economic benefit, and to provide a sense of stability and law to the common folk in the wake of the calamitous events of the last quarter century.
