Session 4: A Delving Most Fraught

General Summary

After a close call at the hands of some reef sharks, The Musty Centaurs proceeded deeper into the lair of Huron Stahlmast, the disgraced inventor who is formerly of the noble city of Hupperdook and who has been missing since the end of The War of Ash and Light. Closing in on his location, the group did not have much time to ponder their discoveries thus far, before being ambushed by a new group of kobold minions, led by a cunning dark elf. An onslaught of crossbow bolts, stabby kobolds, exploding kobolds, and magical faerie fire pushed our heroes to the brink. Plundertooth was downed in the assault, before being revived by Clothilde. Ulfgar did some wild floorwork to land a crossbow bolt of his own. Gorem kept the enemy busy with an imposing though somewhat inaccurate dire wolf. In the end, the crew prevailed, barely, and was hurt enough to allow their mysterious drow assailant to flee down a nearby tunnel. Although talk of taking a rest was entertained, this novel idea was cut short by the discovery of a well-appointed bedroom and large chest that was hidden there. Plundertooth's lockpicking was unsuccessful, so Gorem took a more direct approach - setting off an alarm spell, which, as we left off, drew more kobolds to their location. Meanwhile, Nima Cinnarid continues to hold the severed head of Sken Zabriss, nervous about what her future may hold.
