Shrine of the Great Budi
One of the most recognisable symbols of Bek Budi is the sacred Shrine of the Great Budi. It is found in the central square of Bek Budi . It was built to commemorate the death of General Vod who was in command of the Bek Budi Resistance Army in the time before and during the liberation war. He dies in 14968 with the shrine being finished 21 years later. The shrine has become the symbol of the new country and of a united people.
Purpose / Function
The building is both a burial shrine for the body of the General Vod and a gathering point for national events that use either the upper domed courtyard of the building as a backdrop for national events.
Architecture
The domed building is very symbolic of important buildings in the Karnak region. Like this building they often have a semi-open upper floor that allows wind and air into the space through the gaps in the dome. These can be hung with sails if shelter from the sun or rain is required.
