The United States of America
Over five hundred years have passed since the turn of the second millennium, and the United States of America has barely changed. The most notable change affecting the country has been governmental changes involving the reconstitution of the Americas and the EU as the United Confederation of America, and the completion of a large-scale trans-contintental transportation project connecting most of the major cities via an underground train line.
Geography
The regional body of the United States of America covers almost half of the North American continent, with an area consisting of over 7.5 millions square kilometers. The central and eastern portion of the region is characterized by vast plains, temperate climate, and low altitude. The western portion of the region is separated from the rest of the region by the Rocky Mountains, and is characterized by much higher altitudes, large desert regions, and nearly tropical forest reserves along the pacific coast. To the north of the region is the "Far North", including Canada, Greenland, and Alaska. To the south of the region is "Central America", including Mexico and a number of American colonies. Beyond the Americas' west coast lies the Pacific Ocean, and beyond the east coast lies the Atlantic Ocean. At the south coast lies the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico.
Fauna & Flora
The ecosystem of this region is megadiverse. Over 15 thousand species of flora have been described, and nearly as many species of animal.
Natural Resources
The gigantic surface area of this region provides an abundant source of many diverse natural resources, including petroleum products, wildlife, forests, industrial ores, and most abundantly: expansive plains which support a huge agricultural and farming industry.
