Roseport

The large city of Roseport was founded somewhat recently in comparison to the long history of Ezrion. It was founded roughly 300 years ago during the Great Famine of Quarth. A massive influx of Orcs, elves, and humans fled from the metropolis of Quarth to escape famine and founded Roseport. It is now a bustling city filled with diversity and heavily into the arts. As a port city, many of the professions include packaging goods, sailing, and manual labor at docks. Unlike other parts of Ezrion, in Roseport, Orcs are not seen as brutish thugs that rape and pillage. Obviously, there are exceptions, but a lot of Orcs hold power in Roseport, and some have delved into cultural art and sport.   In terms of governance, the city of Roseport is headed by three people, an Orc, a Human, and an Elf, who are elected every two years by the legislative body known as the Unity. These three people are able to determine things such as war, tax increases, and are allowed to use their power in times of extreme emergency. Usually, though, the Unity decides on laws, ordinances, and policies.   Physically, Roseport is a beautiful city. From 10 miles away one can see the luminescent city glow on a dark night. Upon arrival, one would be greeted by a massive gate and pillaring towers and buildings. Taking a trip down the roads will uncover some mysteries, as well as small shops, people going about their usual day, and underground art shows that have plays and art galleries. All of the buildings have an orange-tinted roof, with the buildings being made of white concrete and limestone, the palette of the city is reminiscent of (sorry for the Earth reference) a mix of Spanish and Greek culture and architecture.

Demographics

Roseport is an extremely diverse city, with a wide population of Orcs, Humans, and Elves, with another 30 percent of the population being made of all sorts of other races, from Dragonborn to Tortles to Tieflings. Roseport is the hub for a variety of exotic races. Many people specialize in fishing, packaging goods, loading docks, but a big art scene is also very prevalent. Roseport is known as the "City where artists go to die" because there are so many artists it is difficult to make yourself known. Much of Roseport is a middle-class society, while the high class and low class are at a covert war with each other.

Government

The Government of Roseport is made up of the Unity, which is a group of 13 people who keep the Trinity in line. The Trinity is a Human, Elf, and Orc, who are elected every two years by the people who live in Roseport. The founders, known as the Migrants, set the system up to dissuade people from corruption. However, much of the Unity, which is instilled for life, is where the corruption lies. Fimble Supplebottom's mother, Stella Supplebottom is among the Unity. The Trinity proposes the laws, which they give to the Unity, who vote on whether to pass the laws. Lobbying is a major problem in Roseport. Every year, Kymil Daxina, the High King of Wofania, comes to inspect the honesty and quality of the government.

Districts

The Mercardo Ward

The Mercardo Ward, is the commercial hub of Roseport. It is the first district that is seen when entering Roseport, and it is always bustling with business owners, crooks, and peddlers.   Points of Interest - Best Shot Tinkerer's Shop Tom's Tools and Hardware The Frosting Forge Someday Sundae's The Trent Ivy Theatre The Needy Meadery Fine Fabrics and Fowl Foods Matilda's Magorium

Oldtown

The Oldtown district was the first attempt at setting up Roseport. It has now fallen into a slum of sorts. Families can be seen selling whatever they own to get food for the day, and the destruction of historical locations occurs every day. The ever-present smell of manure and disease lies in this district. So does the largest, and most overrun, hospital in Roseport.
