Session 1: Into the Crucible Report

General Summary

During the festival of Holika Eve, the rakashans attacked and killed five people, injured a dozen others, and carried six people off into the night.

Ten brave souls went out to rescue their fellows:

• Ulm, a woodcutter
• Elric, a Promesso sentenced to be branded for theft
• Cedric, a crossbowman
• Ben, a farmer
• Rowan, a Promesso
• Mille, a Volgare alchemist's apprentice
• Aditi, a Promesso
• Stigala, a Volgare woodcutter
• Smok, a Volgare gravedigger
• Timbul, a Loxodon fighter

They reached a plateau where they found two dead Rakashan, the impaled body of townsperson Wiglaf, and Becca, an alewife from whom they learned that the rakashans had met a party of men and turned over Eisley the Beadle to them. After the exchange there was a quarrel and a skirmish, and the men took the elderly caretaker in one direction and the tigermen took the other prisoners toward a Great Tree.

Rowan, Aditi, Stigala, and the loxodon went to rescue Eisley while the others pressed on to the rakashan pride. Along the way, they were ambushed by a great tiger, who killed Mille and severely wounded Ulm (because he heroically threw himself between Cedric and the tiger). Ben and Smok headed back to town with Ulm, Becca, and the body of Mille, while Elric and Cedric pressed on.
