About
Faeloria is a world building project with the intent of use by myself (the creator) as a resource to reference in my creative works. World Anvil has created a platform that has allowed me to structure my vast notes of the world in a way that becomes easier to sort and read.
Where it began
Faeloria started under a different name, and many names/places/events have been rewritten over the years. It's initial intent was as a campaign setting for a Dungeons and Dragons game. As I continued to build upon the setting it became an untamed beast of google docs, hand-written notes and various notepad files on my computer. I wanted to make a centralized place to put all of the world building, the initial idea was a google doc which became extreemly long and difficult to reference. I then looked into creating a wiki such as MediaWiki but didn't want the hastle of maintaining a server for the sake of one wiki. World Anvil is something I'd heard about some time ago but never thought much of it until looking for a new solution. I skeptically tried out the free version before feeling it would be worth the investment and never looked back! Now, not only have I moved over a number of my notes, they have been expanded on, rewritten where issues with consistency had arisen and refined greatly to give more context and information to potential readers. While there are many more notes to move over, the temptation to write new articles to link in with more context and the fun events World Anvil holds has made it irrisistable to keep expanding.
Using Faeloria
Faeloria is free for anyone to use in their own games as a setting. While there is a lot of work still left to be done, using it as a reference either 'as-is' or adapting it for your own personal games is not an issue. I am a firm believer in personal use and having no limitations on any content to do so. That's why Faeloria is open and free.
That being said, if you wish to reference it in other works or use content outside of personal use, you must seek permission to do so first. Faeloria is not intended to be used outside of any form of personal games.
Why use Faeloria?
The intent is to create something extreemly in-depth that any form of high-fantasy game can use it as a setting and have a bunch of content to make the world feel a little more lively. Or to help inspire campaign writing by utilizing characters, events, history, pantheon, locations and much more.
Future Plans
There are so many! But here is an overview of what I want to build up on Faeloria;
Adding Lore
The never-ending goal is to continue to add to the lore. Places, people, events and history are all going to be forever worked on to make a world where you will likely continue to find content for years to come.
Building Custom Content
Races, Items, Spells, Classes, Backgrounds... Faeloria was built to play D&D within. While I am making a lot of effort to build the world here without any reference to any gaming system and to keep it purely as an open world. I also want to create custom content for gaming systems that will not infringe on any copyrights and can be used where ever and how ever I would like to use them, including sharing. I have been building up a library of such things over the years and will likely release them over time as and when I feel they are ready to be shared.
