Fender Stratocaster

Heart of Chrome

The Fender Stratocaster is a unique instrument, having been built especially for Misvari Vivetta by Zariel, the Archduchess of Avernus.

. . .And I smashed it against the body of a Varsity Cheerleader!

Early in Misvari's experimentation with the Stratocaster, she discovered that it was quite resilient for an instrument. So, naturally, she used it like a club and tested it against several test targets:
  • She smashed it against the wall
  • She smashed it against the floor
  • She smashed it against the body of a Tyrian Paladin
  • She smashed it against the side of a wagon
  • Smashed it against a 1481 Harlus Davridsen
Each time she swung the Stratocaster, the target howled in pain, and the guitar howled in heat!   Grinning an evil smile, Misvari plans on further testing.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Outwardly, the Stratocaster has six strings that are played in a straightforward manner, but there all similarity to a familiar lute ends abruptly. Below each string are three small metal disks that Misvari has dubbed "pickups," a term that describes how they seem to pick up the sound of the strings. From there, the exact magics that make the instrument work are inscrutable. All that Zariel will say is that it contains a heart of chrome and the voice of a horny angel (presumably her own).   Though the Stratocaster can be played quite effectively alone, it came with a little box Misvari calls an "amplifier." Once a small metal stick is inserted into a receptacle in the instrument, the little box can project volume many times louder than the Stratocaster alone.

Manufacturing process

"The guitar bled for about a week afterwards, and the blood was zoot:  dark and rich, like wild berrys. The blood of the guitar was Chuck Berry red! The guitar bled for about a week afterwards, but it rung out beautifully. And I was able to play notes that I had never even heard before!"

Significance

After Misvari's first month with Morrigan "Malus" Malum and her family at The Whispering Eye Tavern , Zariel presented the young bard with "a little gift," as she calls it now. On the back is a personal inscription in chromed mithril, reading, "To Misvari, You can always play in my Whispering Eye, Love Z"
Tears in her eyes, Misvari looked up to find Zariel holding out a tiny object to her. It was a small triangle, just large enough to be held between her fingers: The Pick.   Zariel smiled. “You’ll need this.”   -The Book of Morrigan, Chapter 15: The Axe

Smashing Things

For its weight, the Stratocaster is surprisingly nimble in Misvari's hands. For others, the guitar is an eight-and-a-half pound great club, but for her it spins and dances with incredible finesse.   Currently, when Misvari wields the Stratocaster, it counts as a Finesse weapon, dealing 1d8+DEX. Additonally, she can cause 1d4 Thunder damage for some extra thrashing.   Misvari suspects that she hasn't even come close to unlocking the true glory within the instrument. Zariel knows that she is correct. . .
