Session 0: Character Backstories

General Summary

Lily Faerel   Lily Faerel is a young 100ish female elf from Silverymoon. She had a very strained relationship with her family and never really felt like she fit in very well. Most of her family members including her Mother( Name), Father(Name), and Two brothers (Name) and (Name) were exceptionally skilled with magic use. Her family was very influential within Silverymoon, serving as important wizards, druids and clerics. Lily however was unable to even cast the simplest spell without some physical focus. Lily’s talents seemed to always possess more natural skill with more physical activities and martial skills.   Lily is slightly shorter than average, lithe, with long wavy dark hair and expressive (color) eyes. Lily hated the fact that her family seemed determined that she would eventually “fit in” and find a way to find a way to work in an acceptable position within Silverymoon. She felt that her family never listened to her and forced her into fulfilling role within the family rather than accepting her dreams of being able to travel and explore the world.   The only person who would listen to her was her grandmother, Lily felt a deep connection with her and often secretly left her family’s house to go hunting with her grandmother in the nearby glades. This gave her a few precious moments of peace during her childhood. Her grandmother taught her how to hunt, use weapons and defend herself.   One day while they were out in the glades a band of drow attacked them. Lily was still very young and her grandmother had her hide while she fought the attackers. Unfortunately her grandmother was killed in the attack but the drow didn’t know Lily was nearby. Once the Drow had left she ran to her grandmother. Realizing she was dead lily was crying and didn’t know what to do. She decided to gather the bow and what was left of her grandmothers supplies. When she tried to touch the bow something strange happened! The bow itself seemed to call out to her and she felt a sharp stinging when her fingers touched the bow itself. Pulling back in alarm she saw that her fingers had been cut and she was bleeding out of the small wounds. Looking back at the bow to her surprise she saw the blood absorb into the bow, and elvish script appear upon the limbs of the bow itself! Afraid that the drow might come back Lily hurried home and told her family what had happened. Her family became very angry that she had bonded with the family heirloom elven moonbow. Instead of letting her keep it they locked it within the family vault. As she grew up Lily never really understood why her family became so angry about the incident and over the years she forgot the interaction with her grandmothers bow.   Eventually she had had enough. She decided that she would run away and live her own life. In a moment of spite she decided that before she left the city she would take the bow that her grandmother had always used. She dressed in dark clothes, and snuck out of the city. Life was very hard for Lily. She had never had to provide for herself before. Her privileged family had never taught her to live off the land or how to survive out in the world. Lily found that some of the skills she had been taught by her grandmother useful to help her find odd jobs while traveling by herself away from Silverymoon. Lily eventually travelled by Neverwinter and met Gnosh a gnome wizard.     Gnosh   Gnosh is a young male gnome. He is 4 ft tall, Light tan skin, dark green eyes, and dark brown hair which he often pulls back into a ponytail. He styles his goatee and mustache into whimsical designs and often dyed it dark blue! Gnosh seemed less concerned with his attire and simply wore a dark grey robe with a dark blue sash. Gnosh’s first memories were of a affectionate elvish couple who had taken him in after they had found him as a baby. His adopted father and mother Elwin and Meria Krisperios noticed that young Gnosh had a talent for magic and when he was old enough decided to send him to study magic.   Gnosh was an adept student and voraciously learned as much knowledge as possible. Gnosh felt a need to help others as much as he could. He really disliked when anyone took advantage of those with less power. Gnosh eventually was studying magic in Neverwinter when he met another gnome named Francis. He had found a unique friendship with Francis, the two began to pal around during Gnosh’s time he had away from his studies.   Gnosh and Frances traveled together to Helm’s Hold south of Neverwinter to visit Francis’ family. During their trip they had begun to hear rumors of trouble within the area. Several of the small Villages had been pillaged recently and villagers had gone missing. Along the road they Met Lily a female elf who was trying to find her way in the world and avoid her family. Seeing another in need of help Gnosh and Lily became quick friends. After sending time with Francis family the trio headed south toward (Place).   Aden   Aden is a 36 year old aasmiar. Aden was born to a human family and had an older brother, Fred. Aden and Fred had lost their parents early and Fred had been the main caregiver for Aden as he was a child. The Two brothers had remained close since then. Aden had bounced from odd job to odd job. Fred had been the primary provider for both brothers. Fred had advance within the City Watch of Waterdeep and been accepted to the Force Grey, an elite guard of the Blackstaff and the Lords of Waterdeep.   Aden had noticed that his brother was beginning to work more and work different odd hours then he had, He also noted that Fred had begun to act strangely. Aden became very concerned for his brother and one night decided to follow his brother. His brother travelled down past his guard station and into the sewers eventually passing through a door. Aden cautiously approached the door, concern for his brother overriding his caution he followed his brother.   Beyond the door he found a complex hideout complex, sneaking through the complex he looked to find where his brother had gone. Aden searched through rooms and down hallways eventually coming to a large open two level circular room. Aden was on the upper level balcony and he began to hear his brothers voice and another deeper more erratic voice arguing. Aden Hid as he listened and tried to get closer to his brother.   Aden saw Fred kneeling before a floating head with one single, cyclops-like eye surrounded by ten smaller eye stalks. It had a massive, gaping maw. As the argument got more heated he was able to make out the being yelling “Where is it!!” When his brother was unable to give the being the answer it wanted with a roar of anger, a magic beam erupted from its eyestalk. In horror Aden watched as his brothers body began to disintegrate. In the moment Aden begged out to anything to help him save his brother. To his surprise a voice answered offering him the chance to save is brother for a price. He agreed without second thought. In that same moment he felt a searing pain on his right shoulder. The White hot pain was so intense he passed out from the pain.   The next morning Aden woke up in his bed. He was confused. Had it been a nightmare? Had it been real? Looking around the room he found a fine film of fine ashy power everywhere. On his nightstand he found a flying snake with a message for him. It read “Meet at the Yawning Portal.”   Lorin was an adventurous young human. She is a tall fair skinned blonde, 19 year old human female. She was born Naomi Foster. Her Parents Elanor and Lucious Foster, had three children Niles, Naomi, and Lilian. Occasionally when she snuck away in to town in Leilon. When in town she liked to introduce herself as Lorin. She was always very curious and wanted to experience adventure! She is always impulsive and lives in the moment. Who needs to think about tomorrow? Today is the adventure! She had listened to this crazy traveling bard named Fizzywidget who told tales of the Fey and about a talking lizard! The story that Fizzy told was that anyone who finds the lizard can learn magic!   Lorin Glowbrooke   Lorin traveled into the Mere of Dead Men where the tales had said that the lizard existed. Lorin travelled for more than a day into the mere. The landscape was marshy with branches of long dead trees reaching out of the moist earth and clawing at her flesh as she passed. Eventually Lorin began to feel a pull in a direction towards the northern end of the Mere. The feeling was the same as dreams Lorin had experienced. A voice had reached out to her promising adventures beyond her wildest dreams, and treasure! Lorin had grown up in this area and remembered how dangerous her parents had told her the Mere of Dead Men was. They said only fools venture into it alone, and even fewer return! Lorin had grown up as the younger daughter of a pig farmer. Being teased by the other children for her hand me down worn cloths and simple belongings had instilled a great desire to achieve fame and riches!   Eventually Lorin found a ancient oak which the voice seemed to be originating from. Cautiously she placed her hand upon its gnarled bark. Once more the voice reached out to her offering her the promise of power and adventure. Slowly and very deliberately she said yes. Instantly she felt power and frost surge through her body as she saw in her mind a face of a beautiful fae, she had a bluish cast to her skin and what appeared to be icicles frosting her hair. Mab Winter Queen of the Seelie looked at Lorin and said to her “I grant you this power but your memories and adventures will belong to me.”   After this encounter Lorin then headed out of the Mere of Dead Men, and headed back to Lielon. When she arrived at Leilon she no longer remembered her past or her family. She met Fizzywidget again as she was about to head out of town. What an adventure! Lorin decided to travel with Fizzy who knows what else she can discover?   Feng Agundar   Feng is a Half-Orc who towers at an impressive 6’7” tall, with green-grey skin, dark brown hair, and blue eyes. He is 25 years old, the older son of the of Darvin Agundar, a male human from the noble Agundar family, and Neega Stout-Shield, an Orc from a significant family within the Many-Arrows kingdom. Their marriage was a business arrangement to secure peace between the weapon-forging Agundar clan and the developing Many-Arrows kingdom, but the two youngest children grew to love eachother and eventually sired Feng Agundar. Feng has always been very sensitive about his precarious position within the Agundar house., and has dedicated his life to demonstrating that his is a noble worthy of the Agundar name, an Orc worthy of the Many-Arrows Kingdom, and a combination of the two houses that makes both aspects of his identity an advantage to the other, not a disadvantage for him to overcome.   This resulted in an unusually aggressive and active noble, using a combination of intrigue and his physical talents to conquer and dominate political houses within the “civilized” trappings of Waterdeep. His awareness of his position within the family has made him aware that noble houses can be vanquished from the ground up rather than the top down, and as such he regularly seeks out opportunities that may directly or indirectly led him into conflict with other noble houses.   Many years later his mother returned to her clan, to serve as a important mystic shaman for her family. His father remarried Ava, eventually they have another son Terence. Feng loves his younger brother even though he feels that his brother is very reckless. His brother is always attempting wild plans and schemes to advance the family. In his zeal he often throws caution to the wind. Feng watches over his brother to keep him safe and out of trouble.   One night Feng and Terrence arrived at a party at the Sultlue house in Waterdeep. Feng was having a good time spending the evening with his childhood friend Amanda Sultlue when he noticed his brother stepping away from the party conspicuously. He excused himself and followed his brother to see what he was up to. His brother left the house and met a strange male drow in the alley behind the house. What was his brother up too. He sees his brother walk off with this drow and attempts to follow them only to lose track of them. He looked through the night and eventually headed back home only to find his brother had not returned. What had happened to his brother? What was he into now? The only clue Feng had was the mysterious figure he had seen Terrence with the night before. Feng Decides to head down to the Yawning Portal to start trying to find out more.
