Eliander Fireborn
Commander Eliandor Fireborn
Eliandor is tall and imposing, with a distinctive scar across the left side of his face marking him very clearly as a warrior. His voice is sharp and authoritative, and he carries himself as someone used to his commands being followed.
Upon coming of age, Fireborn tried adventuring for a short time, but he did not take well to the randomness of the life and the lack of clear leadership. He joined the City Watch in Waterdeep, where his fighting proficiency and dedication to following orders brought him to the attention of the authorities, and he was promptly promoted, becoming Commander of the city’s armed forces at age 30.
However, after some 20 years of service in the role, he grew weary of the City Watch being used as a tool for political jockeying and sought to retire. While Fireborn insists relocation to Saltmarsh was a step toward a more tranquil life, it is strongly presumed that he is supported by agencies of Waterdeep seeking to tap into the current and future commercial interests within the town. That he expeditiously took on the role of Captain of the town guard, and subsequently got himself elected to the Council, both serve to reinforce these rumours, and Eliandor has never explicitly denied them. Nevertheless, he would react very poorly to any open suggestion that association with Waterdeep, whether perceived or real, is disreputable.
Eliander puts upholding the law above all else and commands the town guard strictly but fairly, committed to the ideal that faithful service and iron discipline are the surestways to maintain peace and order. He has, somewhat contentiously, sought to fill the constabulary with outsiders, although it is acknowledged that few locals have much interest in serving. This makes him only selectively popular with the townsfolk, although he is revered within the guard, and few would deny his presence make them feel safer.
Caution guides Eliander’s thoughts and actions, although he is stubborn to a fault and little can dissuade him once he sets his mind to an idea or a course of action. He believes that Saltmarsh is on the verge of tremendous growth and great prosperity but sees the influence of crime behind every stroke of misfortune. He admires Manistrad Copperlock for her committed work ethic and forthrightness, and despises Gellan Primewater for being the complete opposite.
Eliander is a faithful servant of the Lords Alliance.

Member of Saltmarsh's Town Council, with Anders Solmor, Eda Oweland, Gellan Primewater and Manistrad Copperlocks.
Eliander...- accepts Anders Solmor as a legitimately elected Councillor and proprietor of the largest and most successful enterprise in Saltmarsh, but finds his exuberant impulsiveness distasteful and believes Solmor is too young and inexperienced to hold the positions he has;
- shows appropriate deference to Eda Oweland but objects to her unwillingness to concentrate town resources on fighting crime, smuggling in particular, and to recognise the potential in anything other than Saltmarsh's traditional industries;
- finds Gellan Primewater and completely distrusts him, believing that Primewater's vivaciousness and apparent philanthropy are blatant ruses to disguise his true nature and motivations;
- admires Manistrad Copperlocks' strict discipline and candid nature, seeing her unashamed attention to her own interests as a sign of trustworthiness and contributing positively to a bigger and better future for Saltmarsh.
