Griffon Cavalry

The Griffon Cavalry is a special branch of the City Guard of Waterdeep that acts as the air cavalry for the city. The members of the Griffon Cavalry usually number about 100, and are much more elite than the average guard. The Griffon Cavalry is also a very prestigious organisation, so there is an expected donation of 500 gp in order for a member to join (sometimes replaced with favors). Griffon riders wear half plate armor and wield lances, and they are also equipped with rings of feather falling for safety purposes. In addition to defending the city from aerial attack, the Griffon Cavalry also serves as surveillance for the City Watch, circling overhead to find fugitives when needed.
