The Maelstrom

Originally formed in The Shackled City in the World of Greyhawk, This Guild made its way to Faerun around 100 years ago when one of its Founders, James Bartholomew Taskerhill, arrived in Waterdeep.
The Guild now has a grand Guildhall in Waterdeep and boasts well over 100 members worldwide and has had many members go on to achieve great fame and gain positions of note in Faerun and Toril as a whole.
The members of The Maelstrom are known for their great heroism and dedication to the protection of the world and those that live in it, as well as those beyond it. Guild members often travel to other Planes of Existence, and other worlds, to save them from great Peril.
In some circles the guilds founder in Faerun is rumored to have had a dark and sordid past but these rumors are unsubstantiated and regarded as merely an attempt by rival groups to tarnish this guilds great name and reputation. And after all, who doesn't have the odd skeleton in their closet these days.
