DIT 7: "Malice vs the Undead"

A cadre of Kuo-toa are escorting you to "her". You don't know who she is yet but maybe she has answers you seek to finding the Phylactery Vault.

But before you get there, you have to deal with Malice's compulsion to destroy any and all undead!

A room full of zombies, wights, and a couple of Dread Warriors lies between the you and wherever the Kuo-Toa are escorting you to. Malice just needs to keep his deep seeded hatred of the undead – alas it is not meant to be. Almost on instinct he lashes out with Synaptic Static which takes out several zombies.

Pubert reads this as his queue to attack and so starts doing what Pubert does and cutting down undead. Brehanna of course knows that there’s no stopping now and so also joins in by casting Shatter].

Before anyone realizes it though, Pubert has already charged ahead through the next set of doors and while the undead and kuo-toa are made short work of, the next room is full of giant crabs and merrow lead by a sea-hag.

Without the kuo-toa escort leading the way, the merrow immediately attack, followed by the crabs. However, the sea-hag proposes a bargain.

She wants to be the dominant leader of the sector known as the Predator Pools and to do so she needs a certain Naga named Ihanvas to die. In exchange for his death she’ll grant you safe passage through the Blood Pools and share any information she might have about the Doomvault.

You easily agree as, as luck would have it, you’ve already slain Ihanvas and send Pubert to go retrieve his head as proof.

The sea-hag, who calls herself Tanjus, shares the attunement of her glyph key with you and the knowledge that the Doomvault is overseen by a demilich named Tarul Var who resides somewhere in the Abyssal Gates.

Overhearing you mention the Phylactery Vault she mentions that you won’t find your way there from here. Rumor has it that the only way into the Phylactery Vault is somewhere within the sector called the Temples of Extraction.
