Military action
You’ve silenced the Draakhorn but doing so has not caused you to feel an even greater need to find the location of the ritual and stop it as quickly as possible.
Leaving the treasure area, you come upon a pair of Barbed Devils with four Guard Drakes. Dressed as you are, in Cult of the Dragon garb they mostly ignore as you push past them to see what it is they have such a rapt interest in staring at out of the end of the tunnel.
You exit into the main caldera of this dead volcano to witness the sacrificing of prisoners by cult members in front of a massive structure that can only be The Temple of Tiamat itself. Brehana has brief flashback to one of her myriad nightmares – she’s seen this place before in a dream!
After dispatching of the Dragonwings and Dragonclaw conducting the sacrifices, as well as the Barbed Devils and Guard Drakes that naturally attack upon seeing you doing so, you get the civilians to safety by telling them to hide in the treasure vault, then you enter the Temple.
Once your eyes adjust to the stunning chaos of Tiamat’s Temple, you see that its interior is a single, cathedral-like space that towers far overhead. Five distinct vaults branch off the central gallery. Though the overwhelming color of the place is a lifeless, ashen gray, each of the side vaults shimmers dimly blue, green, red, white, or black — the hues of the evil dragons and their world-consuming queen.
Red Wizards stand in each of the five vaults, chanting and channeling magical force into the central apse. There, a kaleidoscopic whorl of arcane energy rises above the blackened floor, stretching up into the twisting recesses of the temple’s central spire.
And now the real fight begins. The fight against time to try to end the ritual before the Red Wizards can complete it or at least interrupt it enough to weaken the Dragon Queen before she appears!
