Dungeon Master

Thal (the DM) is new to DM'ing a full campaign. Be gentle. He'll make mistakes, but for the sake of continuity, if he gets it wrong run with whatever he's decided and then after the session we can change things moving forward. Thal will not be afraid to ask people for clarification, what the rules say, etc.

Social Contract

We are all caretakers of each other's fun. We are here to have fun and make sure everyone else has fun too. That means we aren't dicks to each other, or do things that ruin everyone else's time. We talk about things that we may do that may be controversial or might run someone else's night.

Firewall of Knowledge

There is a difference between what we know as players, and what our characters know. Thal isn't going to spoil the entire story for the players, but, the players may know other pieces of information that their characters don't - whether about other characters, the setting, etc. We are not afraid to ask whether or not our characters know something or not.

Roleplaying and Setting Tone

When it comes to how our characters roleplay, we don't mind humor. But we want semi-realistic content rather than absurdist content (the bard screwing the dragon was brought up as fairly absurd). We want to be able to put our game faces on when it counts, and we aren't just fucking around.   The campaign may have serious/sensitive topics and content in it, racism and xenophobia heavily feature in the story for instance. We expect people to treat these topics with care. Jokes are fine, but be careful not to cross lines.   Generally speaking the campaign will be high fantasy with low to medium levels of tech - but not fantasy-steampunk levels. Things like "magic cell phones" don't really exist, or at least are not common. Airships aren't even a thing.

Death of a Party Member

In the course of the campaign, our actions have consequences. If we go murder hobo a village, it will be noticed, and there will be real consequences for that. Death can absolutely be real, and there is no guarantee that your character will survive the campaign. We can roll a new character if ours dies though.
