Mageripper's, Memories of a Previous death

There, I was thrown into a pit, the walls alive with the skittering of a thousand nightmares. The Mageripper swarm, creatures of vile origin, bred for a single purpose—to consume the essence of spellcasters like carrion birds feast on the fallen. The air was thick with their hissing, a cacophony of hunger for the arcane.   The wizard watched, his eyes alight with a cruel satisfaction, as the swarm approached. I could feel their gnawing, not just upon my flesh but upon my very soul, tearing at the energies that had once coursed through me with impunity. Their myriad mouths were a prison of teeth, rending and ripping, as a farmer reaps his harvest.   I cried out, not in pain, for their venom numbed my senses, but in despair. For in those moments, I envisioned my end—not as a hero fallen but as fodder for the twisted offspring of malice. The wizard's laughter echoed, a sound I feared would be the final note in the symphony of my life.   But fate, it seems, holds me in its thrall for purposes yet unknown. As the darkness claimed me, I was once again torn from the precipice of the eternal void, my body remade, my memories intact—a curse, not a blessing of divine design...

Session Notes

The Aftermath of Revelry   The morning greets Trox with the unwelcome light of day, the remnants of last night's heavy drinking with Foust lingering as a testament to their burgeoning friendship. Despite the discomfort, Trox finds solace in the bond forged through shared stories and laughter, a bond that seems crucial after the tumultuous events at the protest. The realization that they would need to regroup with their patrons weighed heavily on his mind, marking a pivotal moment in their journey.   Ellie's Inn: A Meeting of Fates   The meeting with the Prince, a crucial juncture in their quest, was set against the backdrop of Ellie's Inn—a place as unassuming as it was vital for their clandestine gathering. The inn, known for its warmth and the discreet nature of its proprietor, Ellie, served as the perfect venue for such a delicate discussion. It was here, amidst the inn's modest charm, that Arnav eloquently recounted the events that led them to this moment. His narrative spared no detail, including Trox's moment of vulnerability before the Gargoyle, laying bare the raw emotions of that encounter.   The Coin's Arcane Examination   The focus of their meeting shifted when the Coin was presented, drawing the attention of Gavrael. His examination, steeped in arcane knowledge, unveiled layers of mystery wrapped within the Coin. This led to the receipt of a list of names and districts, a parchment that hinted at a sprawling intrigue across the city:   From Bade's Folly to the University District, names like Ewan Oakheart, Kira Nightingale, and Jarin Greyleaf marked points of interest, weaving a complex tapestry of connections and potential leads to follow. The Mention of Pan, underlined with question marks on the list, stood out as a poignant mystery, suggesting a deeper significance yet to be uncovered. Unraveling the Dark Tapestry   The investigation into the disappearance of human children revealed a sinister plot, leveraging these tragedies to fuel anti-nonhuman sentiments. The University District emerged not only as a nexus of academic pursuit but also as a focal point of socio-political tension, with cheaper housing hinting at the economic disparities at play.   A Gruesome Discovery   The narrative took a grim turn with the encounter against mind rippers, culminating in the discovery of a hidden tragedy in the basement of an apartment secured by Arnav. The items found—a stuffed animal, a pocket watch from GoldBreech, and a quiver—served as silent witnesses to the lives abruptly ended.   The Slums of Pan and the Shadow of "Mother"   The journey brought them to the slums overseen by "Mother," a figure whose neglect has cast a dark shadow over Pan. This area, marked with question marks, hinted at unresolved mysteries and a potential key to understanding the broader implications of their investigation.

The Magister's Office and "Protesters"

Today was supposed to be another day of investigation. I never imagined it would turn so bloody.   Our group went to the Magister's office to investigate more about the death of Nardar Siege. A former member of the guild, former as in when he was living, was found taking his dying breath as he exited the sewers underneath Ellie's Inn. I didn't know him. He simply died an old man trying to come to the meeting arranged by The Prince and Ellie (and the creepy red eye'd guy... do I know him from somehwere?)   Anyway, the following day we went to the Magister's Office. His supervisor, Ms. Galewing was it, was shocked to find out her subordinate died. She was surprisingly sparse on knowing the details of his current investigation. Maybe it was just the gravity of the situation for her. I didn't disclose the details of how he died. I suspect there was some foul play with his coworkers. The Forensics specialist is still missing. Our only immediate lead was to check out the planned protest of the pro human superiority group as Xian Square. These foolish people could have gotten off without any casualties had I just been smarter about the situation. Of course a group of protesters wouldn't be able to take down a couple of trained magicians and group of fighters. It was a slaughter from which I walked away with only a few scrapes.   Sometimes I wonder if I'm sabotaging myself. I wonder if there is some vestige of the person I loathe who stops at nothing, sacrificing everything for his selfish whims. Then again, I'm tired... so very tired of existing. It only ever gets worse as the vessel becomes older.... I must find a way to stop the cycle.

Conversations at The Inn

Had a decent conversation with Foust after finding his Rap Sheet.   I know he's probably a good guy. Sounds like he was given a rough hand in life. I've seen it happen time and again.   It was funny: after the run in with the truth Gargoyle, I was worried about how the group would react to me. I didn't want to scare anyone off. I just get... so tired... of being the smooth talker or the diplomat. It was refreshing to finally drag that issue out in front of at least one of our party.   I'm sure the rest of our group will end up being my friends. I hope I don't betray them.
