When a mortal dies, their soul is severed from their frail husk and sent into the Immortal Realm. There the soul is judged. Those who lived a live of virtue ascend to become celestials. Those who's souls are tainted black with sin and corruption are twisted into beings of evil: demons. Forced to live the rest of their eternal lives in the squalor of the Immortal Realm, demons will find any means to escape back into the mortal realm. However, without the aid of a mortal to crossover this is an impossible feat. With this in mind came their greatest creation: humans. With the aid of their creations demons have found their way back into the mortal realm. At one point prevalent throughout the realm, demons have now become confined to the small area of Sintasia, located within the Umbral Eclipse Exclusion Zone.

Anatomy

The physical appearance of demons vary greatly. Demons are categorized based on known sub-types.

Black eyes are humanoid looking demons with distinctive black, soulless eyes. One of the most common demons in Sintasia.

Domestication

Demons are currently, in a sense, domesticated by House Umbra, as they are bond to the House and risk deportation back to the Immortal Realm if they fail to comply with demands.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The main population of demons in the Meridian are clustered in Sintasia, within the Umbral Eclipse Autonomous Zone. There are no known reports of demons living outside the zone currently. Historically, demons were found across the Greater Tilth region.

Abyssal is the native language of all demons. However, most demons are currently proficient in sintasian draconic as a means to conduct business with individuals from the Meridian.

Currently one of the most prominent demons is Azazel, a Black Eye who beat the odds to become one of the most powerful individuals in Sintasia.
