Thultanthar

Thultanthar, also known as the Shade Enclave and the City of Shade, is a Netherese flying city residing in the Shadowfell. It appears as a floating inverted mountain of stone topped with harsh black spires and foreboding walls. It was built by krinth settlers a long time ago, and was once firmly attached to the surface. Years ago, it was invaded by a group of zar'ithra and zekyl led by the Black Shadow Abishai known as Achatima. Using foul magic, the vassal of Tiamat brought the city into the sky and began corrupting the minds of the dragons in the surrounding area, turning them into Shadow Dragons.

Notable Locations

Thultanthar isn't known for its amenities, but it is still a city. Outsiders are not usually welcome, but those who pay well are "treated as family." Due to the caste system in place, you'll either find a location that openly serves krinth or bans their very presence.

Outer Circle

The outer circle makes up the majority of the city and its krinth population. It's certainly the poorer of the two districts, though it once was as resplendent as the inner circle, in the time before the krinths' enslavement.

The Haggard Hovel

This is a run-down tavern primarily operated and visited by krinth. Water (you assume) always seems to be dripping from the ceiling, running down the walls. No one knows where it comes from. Aside from that, the tavern is almost always quiet, as none of the patrons seem interested in doing anything but finishing their drinks and getting on with their work day (which is every day).
Menu
Aside from the typical drinks and food, this tavern has a few additional menu items to offer.   Anguishing Ale  (6 cp). You're not sure if they mean to imply that it's really strong or really bad.
Goat Feet (8 cp). Who would think to serve this?
Hobgoblin Balls (2 sp). You really, really hope this isn't what you're certain it is.   Note: The special menu items can be requested in a specific order based on the first letter in their titles to spell out the word "HAG." If the party does this, then the barkeep will will them how to contact the coven of night hags within the city.
Staff
The staff here is split between zar'ithra management and krinth servitude.   Loethan. Krinth Barkeep (He/Him). He's a cagey individual that doesn't talk much, but seems to have a soft spot for strange creatures.
Slurpy. Sentient Gray Ooze. Slurpy is a gray ooze that is a sort of pet of Loethan, but has been known to help around the tavern as a server.

Inner Circle

The inner circle is the smaller district of Thultanthar and the primary living space for the city's zar'ithra and zekyl populations. Its architecture is the same as the outer circle, but with much better upkeep and tighter security.

The Obsidian Shade

This tavern is one of the most popular within the city. Not only is the food good, but the establishment is completely devoid of krinth (aside from the servants). There are a few private eating rooms that can be rented, almost exclusively for the zekyl, and there always seems to be a shady figure or two sitting in a dark corner.
Menu
Aside from the typical drinks and food, this tavern has a few additional menu items to offer.    Ham and Sausage Stuffing (8 sp). A big serving of baked ham on top of a mound of sausage stuffing.
Roasted Lizard (3 sp). A little lizard roasted on a spit.
Skillet Fried Potatoes (6 sp). Thinly cut and fried with chopped onions.
Staff
The staff here is split between zar'ithra management and krinth servitude.   Zialith. Zar'ithra Barkeep (She/Her). She curses like a sailor and constantly complains about the krinth in the city, along with outsiders in general.
Khlet. Krinth Servant (He/Him). He walks with a limp, clearly caused by physical abuse. More than any krinth seen before, he is extremely skittish and submissive.
Yllafnisa. Zekyl Manager (She/Her). She moves slowly, and with intent, as though she's constantly scanning her establishment for troublemakers and undesirables.
