Lydia Sunguard
- Vasenatu
Human. Fighter. Original Member of The Alliance of the Mighty from 600 years ago. Lydia Vasenatu was the champion of Dranaelor, living in the capital, Vyras. Her role was protector and she took to it with an air of reluctance and grace. She never wanted to be anyone’s champion but she accepted and eventually grew to enjoy the smiles on peoples face as she defended them. One fateful day she was approached by a gentleman named Charles Anthony Ramsey Larson, Carl for short. He explained to her the looming threat of the Draconic Discourse and she agreed to help him in standing against the threat. While traveling with Carl she grew to appreciate him, she could see how much he cared for Fartharia and her people. Eventually that appreciation turned into infatuation, and infatuation turned to love the more they traveled. After a year of traveling together to build an army they decided to spend their last night before the final battle together so they wed in secret and a night was had. The next morning they fought the Draconic Discourse and won, but not without losing Carl to the Red Dragon, Vatra. A funeral was held and Carl was posthumously given the last name Sunguard and Lydia, having been revealed as Carl’s wife, was named Lydia Sunguard. The Alliance of the Mighty was disbanded and in its place was the Grandguardia and Lydia was made Commander while most of the other champions went their own ways. Lydia found herself to be pregnant from their last night together and grew to miss Carl and the farther she got from his death, the more she missed him. Months later it came to light that Bronson, another champion in the Alliance of the Mighty, and his wife were assassinated by what remained of the Discourse, Only Bronson's son and daughter were left alive, Marcus and Lyra Emberhold. Lydia’s heart bled for these children and she took them in as her own until they were old enough. She could never formally adopt them but she treated them like they came from her womb. Eventually she gave birth to Half-Elven twins Titus and Patricia Sunguard. As the years went on one by one it seemed like each member of the alliance was being picked off by an assassin. But when the assassin came for her, She and her children slew the intruder and brought vengeance to the Alliance. Eventually Lydia would pass on from old age surrounded by her biological children, grandchildren and her adopted children and grandchildren. She died peacefully, with a smile on her face saying, “I’m coming Carl.” Thus the lineage of Sunguards began.
