The Committee
The Committee is a group of Ascendi who came together to stop the Automatoi from leaving the island. Instead, they performed a number of powerful spells in order to force the Automatoi to continue working and make the other Ascendi forget, that there ever were another race on Hardora to begin with. In the following centuries, they continued altering the memory of the populace and amass resources, trying to stick to the status quo for as long as possible and be prepared if it came to an end anyway.
Structure
The Committee consists of 12 Keepers who are equal in position and rights. They decide as a collective during meetings that take place every 120 days or when the need arises. New members are selected by the group when one of them passes away.
Public Agenda
The Committee wants to keep Hardora in the air and protect the Ascendi first and foremost. In order to do so, they have performed the curse on the Automatoi to prohibit them from leaving their work. They mainly have to perform memory alterations on the populace in order to keep the secret of their own spell. Besides of the flight of Hardora being their official objective, they never tried to find an alternative to the enslavement of the Automatoi, in part because they feared the revenge of the oppressed.
Assets
The Committee meets in the sanctum of the temple outside of Aitheris. They have a significant stock of resources, because every member over the generations has saved some of their rations in creation materials. Therefore, the Committee can create just about anything they could need.
History
When the rumor spread that the Automatoi no longer wanted to continue working on Hardora, panic spread as well within the circles that were informed enough to know what that would mean for the island as a whole. Some of the servants wanted to stop them by force, but no majority could be achieved. So, twelve Ascendi, some of their more conservative, old but therefore powerful individuals, came together in secret to perform the necessary steps anyway. Since then, the Keepers have filled their ranks each generation anew and await the day their schemes are uncovered with stoic patience.
