The Mappers
"We've got a token for entry to any Mappers building for free study... not that we've ever used it because we haven't been back to Ulsterknock and never visited their other locations. The Mappers are one of the central lore-ist guilds across Fel'Wind and they're proud of their history dating back to pre-empire. Due to their history of being around Pre Empire, they aren't 100% trusted by the Emperor, and for a long time they weren't welcome in the capital due to being a relic of pre empire days, and a worry that they might usurp power. As such, a separate organisation was set up in Windspire called the Guild of Stone Lore, the idea being that they would present the Empires view of history on the world. The Mappers were for a long time in decline due to this, but persisted. Eventually they became intertwined (control of both guilds ended up in the hands of the same group of individuals) and now there is little difference between them. Mappers still pride themselves on their heritage and longevity of the guild and will tell everyone that they aren't the same but really there's little trust to that. The Mappers were also expelled from Galehaven 75 years ago because of their paranoia about the Dunaren Empire.
They seem to favour tiny backwater towns because 'the rents are too high' in any city or place people would actually go... Seems like false economy to me.
That said, they were quite happy to pay a not insignificant sum for *cough* forged *cough* experiment notes I found in Guanobury."
