The Leap

The Leap is an outcropping of rock on the edge of Saltmarsh about a hundred feet above the water, where it is customary for villagers to jump into the water when a loved one has died at sea. Along the walk up as well as at the top of the cliff there are benches for mourners to sit and reflect. At the base of the leap there is a grotto, the depth of which makes the jump typically non-fatal, though there have been accidents before.
