The Watcher

Architecture

This collosal statue was carved out of a single, massive block of stone. It stands 25 feet tall and is 10 feet wide at the at its widest point.

There's nothing particularly remarkable abut the stone it was carved from, but there's no other stone like it in the area. Some scholars believe that the stone was brought from elsewhere.

The Watcher, as the statue has come to be known, is carved in the figure of a woman with her arms held out in front of her. Her hands are cupped together as if she were holding something. None have been able to get up there to see if there's anything in her hands.

Her carved garb clearly dates back to the mid to late First Age. She appears to be a mortal based on hr ear shape and size. As no goddess matches her description it lends weight to that belief. She has long hair tied back in a trailing braid that wasn't the style of the time. One of her feet isn't as perfectly formed as the other, leading to the belief that the sculptor was unable to finish for some reason.

History

The Watcher is believed to predate all five kingdoms but no one knows who carved it, how, or why.
