Heart of the Great Glacier

Heart of the Great Glacier is extremely powerful magical artefact. It is sentient and evil ice stone shaped similiarilly to a heart. It influences creatures it considers powerful enough to withstand its power and empowers them with power of the Glacier. Ability to control ice and what is beneath it, meaning legions of monsters lurking in deep caves of the Glacier. Unfortunately for influenced person, it also corrupts one’s mind, guiding them to evil and vile acts, while also convincing them to expand territories of the Great Glacier.
Heart has been struggling to achieve its goal of expanding the Great Glacier, due to great incompetence of individuals it corrupted, ability of Divine Countries to defend themselves and group of unique adventurers, powered by blessings and power of dead Frozen Queen, demigod of ice, responsible for fighting the evil power of the Great Glacier, that constantly fought armies of the Heart called Glacier Protectors.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Heart influences one’s mind by use of mind magic and entering their thoughts to input whatever Heart wants them to do, while still letting them believe that these thoughts are their ideas and their goals they decided to achieve. It also makes corrupted person to do everything in their power to protect the Heart from all harm, even if it meant sacrificing themselves. Heart also empowers corrupted one. It shares bit of its power to control ice and influence other creatures, especially ones that come from depths of the Glacier. These powers work only when air temperature is lower than 0 Dauran degrees.

History

The Heart of the Great Glacier has been found first by Ikvima, she-orc ice orc tribe leader, in 1365 PG. It corrupted her mind, convincing her that she wants to claim lands of the Glacier for herself and expand them. Heart helped her to call armies of the Glacier to her banner and build Stronghold of the Glacier. After that, they attacked Divine Countries spreading chaos and sheding tons of innocent blood. They were stopped in their progression into further countries by armies of the Divine Countries, but when they have sent the Crusade to destroy the Heart, they were slaughtered by mighty armies of it and Ikvima Hearthammer.
After Ikvima was killed and Heart claimed by Glacier Protectors, who infiltrated Stronghold of the Glacier, it has been hidden by them in First Temple of Juon in 1373 PG. Then, Glacer Protectors left and hoped that Heart will be safe in secret, but it called out to be found by new power.
From the First Temple the Heart was taken by king of ice giants, Uktal, who then was corrupted by the Heart in the same way Ikvima was in 1394 PG. He rallied armies of giants and other monsters of the Glacier and started to rebuild Stronghold of the Glacier. There he was attacked by reassembled Glacier Protectors, but in wisdom which Heart granted him, he was prepared and ambushed them, killing the elvish sorceress Ambrose with magic of the Heart. Glacier Protectors retreated and Uktal proceeded with the plan of the Heart. He conquered the Divine Duchy of Rasar and began to freeze its lands and expand the Glacier. He was interupted by counterattack of the Crusade and Glacier Protectors, who were blessed with the power of Frozen Queen and empowered by sorceress Ambrose, who was resurrected by the sacrifice of the Frozen Queen. Glacier Protectors defeated Uktal and Crusade forced ice monsters to retreat to the Glacier.
When Uktal was killed by Glacier Protectors, they have used the power granted by blessing of the Frozen Queen and smashed the Heart into 10 pieces, which were hidden inside of ten First Temples in 1402 PG.
From all of the First Temples Heart pieces are taken by monster legions attracted by its power in 16th century PG. Each of legions then started to fight for dominance over who will claim the power of the Heart, in consequence causing Heart to be still in pieces.

Significance

Heart of the Great Glacier is an artefact with power able to expand territories of the Glacier, causing great destruction and chaos in victim lands. It can ruin the balance of nature in Ferdlan, causing it to fall in centuries-lasting winter.
