Prince/Princess

A prince or princess is the child of the highest ruler of a land, typically a king, though sometimes a Duke or Emperor. The title itself does not come with any lands or responsibilities, though it is common for certain land holding titles to be reserved for the prince/princess. The eldest child born in wedlock succeeds to the throne upon his father/mother's death. Different cultures may prioritize male or female children, though it is incredibly rare for it to be a younger child over an older.
Methods of Address
Princes and princesses are styled "Your Royal Highness" in all contexts, though can be addressed as "sire" or "ma'am" after initial address within a conversation.   Children of princes and princesses are styled "lord" or "lady," and held in the same regard as the parent, though officially do not hold an inherent title until either granted one or the parent ascends to the throne.
