Nural
The humanoid rabbit species is not as widespread as Obaho or Chifri. Many nurals are found in the Ilfar islands or along coastal communities.
Basic Information
Anatomy
A nural typically stand 1.7 meters tall, or 5.5 feet, on the average. They have two arms, two legs and a rabbit-like tail. They walk upright, and have four fingers and opposable thumbs allowing the use of tools.
Their head shape and proportion is that of a rabbit. This includes a muzzle, long ears, whiskers and teeth, but they have the muscles from their human ancestors in their facial region, allowing them to express the same range of emotion as a human. Their vocal chords produce sounds within the same range as a human.
Their feet end in a paw-like structure, but it is wider to support their upright stature.
Biological Traits
Nurals, as taken from their rabbit genetic ancestry, naturally have trouble being still for long periods of time. They regularly twitch or need to move. This need to move reflects itself in most nural cultures as they have many arts devoted to meditation or other means of self-control to allow them to stop twitching for extended periods of time.
Genetics and Reproduction
Nural give birth to live young, and have one to five children on average.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Nurals eat primarily fruits and vegetables but are not strict herbivores like their genetic ancestors. They can eat lean meat, such as fish or chicken, and do so on a semi-regular basis. Fattier meat, such as red meat or pork, is difficult for them to digest, so they prefer not to eat any.
Additional Information
Facial characteristics
While humanoid, nurals do have the muzzle and elongated ears of a rabbit. Both features develop proportional to their size. True to their human genetic heritage, they walk upright on two legs. But their knees and feet closer resemble the shape of their rabbit heritage.
Nurals are digitigrade, putting the primary weight during locomotion on the front of their foot and very little weight on their heel. Though they can walk on their heel, and at times will do so.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Nurals are more at home in forested or island climate. It suits their biological preferences toward grains, fruits, vegetables, and seafood.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
They have a color-based vision like their human ancestors. Their skin is touch sensitive, and their sense of taste and smell is equivalent to a humans. Their sense of hearing is highly developed, being at 360-45,000 Hz with excellent direction-sensing and separation abilities.
While it is not common, nural are occasionally born with “The Talent”. The Talent is what their ancestors would categorize as a preternatural sense, crudely referred to as ‘psychokinetic talent’. It is regarded more in modern terms as 'magical talent' or an ability to 'code' the Weave .
Civilization and Culture
Culture and Cultural Heritage
They do not have a single form of government, but have settled in various regions and continents.
History
Nural are human-rabbit hybrid descendants of Earth colonists who survived the anti-virus created to combat the mysterious “red flu” pandemic that swept the colony, after a devastating meteorite storm.
