Medicine Seller

Medicine Sellers are a wide-spred profession, though it usually refers to medical practitioners who travel the land to provide their concoctions and spells, and then keep moving.
They usually don robes and have a large satchel or wooden container on their back where all their ingredients and components are kept. More often than not they are followers of some deity or organization, but most of them belong to the Medicine Guild. This guild provides them with a network of support and a way to find other medicine sellers in the cases that one discovers an epidemic or other situation that one person cannot handle on their own.

Perception

Social Status

While Medicine Sellers are medics, they are perceived more dubiously by the common people than local doctors and clerics because of their unfamilliarity. However, their constant mobility take them to the most remote and forgotten corners of the world, where oftentimes no other medical practitioner can be found. In truth, they are seen as much as travellers as they are seen as medics.

Demographics

While medicine sellers not a rare occurence, their numbers are small and finding one through word of mouth is almost impossible. However the Medicine Guild has branches in the biggest cities and one can go seek help there.

History

This profession is a relatively new one, or at least as new as the Forge Islands are. It was established during the great move of the survivors of the Frost and since then has become commonplace. Many medics who lost their homes and never managed to relocate permanently instead chose to travel endlessly to seek those in need instead.
