Periskopi

Periskopi is the northernmost island of the Whitepeaks archipelago chain and it sits the further from any other of the islands from The Hearth. Despite of that, Periskopi's western shores are some of the warmest and most humid in all of the islands. Periskopi is being blasted by warm winds originating from the volcanic island of Pyraktee. Periskopi is a water islands and only some of its mounts float above the water and the island.

The island is covered by a thick and perilous jungle that begins from the very golden sandy beaches to the very top of its high mountains. Most of the west coast is covered by an expansive mangroves forest that grows around the deltas of the numerous rivers and waterfalls scarring the islands' geography.

The island is very often flooded by torrential rains due to the warm wind front hitting the northern corridor's cold winds, this makes traversing the island particularly dangerous but also makes Periskopi an excellent source of clear water and extremely biodiverse. Many of the pre-frost migratory species now make this nests in the protective cliffsides of the island.

Periskopi tooks its name from the ancient, 50 meters tall and 10 meters wide enormous lighthouse that was built some time before the arrival of the current inhabitants of the The Whitepeaks Archipelago. Nobody really knows why a lighthouse of this enormity was really necessary but it is stipulated that the lighthouse served as a beacon for ships tha were travelling for afar as a way to establish a navigation point. Reports of othe lighthouses of that size come from many of the first wave of migrants in the Islands.

The People of Periskopi

Periskopi has two major settlements, Daleenir and Qurin. Daleenir sits at the center western coast at the mouth of the largest river in Periskopi overlooking the smokey volcanes of Piraktee and it is a major port that serves as the gateway to the Steaming Sea while Qurin sits deep in the southern jungle of the island a rather inhospitable place but an on top of an extremely lucrative mine of gold and silver that has attracted thousands of colonists and miners.

While most of the inhabitants of Periskopi are Vulpe, the island is also host to a quite big Udan community mostly in the town of Qurin.
