Iss'tamin Hss'toffess

A sharp-tongued yuan-ti, Iss'tamin Hss'toffess was found in the dungeon of the Hall of Mercy during one of the first ventures of Svent and [Shay Ingovayus into the place in Tarsakh, 1374DR. They freed him, and he avowed his gratitude and a reward to be forthcoming. On a following visit, the group freed three girls who claimed to be slaves of his from the upper floor of the temple. They explained that Iss'tamin had been an acquaintance of Iolus Soulbruise, the late high priest of Cyric who the group had previously dispatched. It seemed that Soulbruise had attempted to purchase them, and when rebuked, the priest took exception and imprisoned Iss'tamin some indeterminate time prior to their arrival. Iss'tamin is unpleasant and condescending like most yuan-ti. He seems to live alone (with a handful of slaves) in a small estate on the west side of the Inner Circle of Hlondeth. He points out frequently that he is cousin to Lady Dediana Extaminos, ruler of Hlondeth. His only visible serpentine features are his slit pupils and the small scaling pattern on his face and forehead. A tenday or so after the initial meeting, Iss'tamin reached out to Svent and Shay and requested their participation in a business venture: taking an old found object to Mount Ugruth to sell to the worshippers of Talos. Unsuccessful, the group returned and Iss'tamin became convinced that similar relics lie entombed in the ruins of an old city below Hlondeth. He has informed the group that he needs to generate some gold to finance an upcoming venture. While going with the group into an older part of the sewer beneath Extaminos Hill (Episode 7: Things Get Ruins ), Iss'tamin directed Sellennis to carry a prisoner out. Apparently from the secession rebels, Iss'tamin expressed the intention to question and torment the man to uncover information about the outlaws. Less than 24 hours later, Iss'tamin was killed by a band of insurgents led by Bozhidar Kholane on 29 Tarsakh, 1374DR, during a late night rescue of their compatriot.
