Tattoos of Shadow Mastery
The darkness is more than the absence of light. It is the presence of power.
Appearance
The exact appearance of these tattoos vary by the individual. They are typically fine, delicate swirls on the hands and torso. Invariably, they glow with a faint inner light (unless suppressed by the wearer).
Mechanics
Wondrous Item, Very Rare, Requires Attunement
The wearer's unarmed strikes are considered +2 weapons (magic, +2 attack and damage). In addition, they gain the following ability:
Shadow Bender (Bonus action): Shadows become an extension of your body, to such an extent that you can use them to strike at your enemies. For 1 minute, your unarmed strikes have reach 15', provided both you and your target are not in an area of bright light. These attacks deal an additional 2d6 necrotic damage. Once used, this ability cannot be used again until you have completed a long rest.
If a target is killed by the Shadow Bender ability, their body dissipates and is absorbed by the shadows around them, leaving their equipment behind.
History
The art of creating these tattoos are a guarded secret among several organizations that see the shadows as a home to be embraced. Silent Guardians of The Monastery are known to receive them upon initiation into that order.
