Harlan is the Guildleader of Twilight Ravens.
He grew up in a village called Maiden’s Burrow, roughly 12 miles east of Waterdeep. He left his home after his younger brothers passing to seek a new life in the City of Splendors. Harlans family history is a tragic one and that have scarred him. After his brothers death, his mother died while giving birth to his younger sister Asena. Asena who at the time lived in Waterdeep with her husband, got murdered by an assassin from a rivalling guild. His father, Rainald, remarried and got another child, Loh. However he didn't learn of her existence until after his fathers passing. Rainalds new wife never really accepted any of his children, and even disliked Loh, her own daughter. After Rainalds passing Loh was put in an orphanage in Waterdeep because of rejection from her own mother. This is where Harlan found her and her friends and did a hostile takeover of the orphanage. This soon became his base of operation for his criminal activity and works as a front for his guild. Most of the children at the orphanage are trained by the guild to develop their criminal skills.

Early life
One day when Harlan was 13 years old, he convinced his 7-year old brother Deon to explore the big city with him. They hid away under a few blankets on a big merchant’s cart for the two-hour ride into Waterdeep. After a few hours of wandering the streets and gaping at all the unbelievable wonders, the two brothers strayed into an alley in the Dock Ward, where they were assaulted by a couple of street thugs. Harlan took his brother’s hand and ran out of there like the wind. But one of the troublemakers threw his dagger after them and hit Deon through his back. Harlan scooped his little brother up and kept running until he reached the River Gate. There, he collapsed in front of two City Guards. When Harlan woke up again, his brother had been carted away to the nearest temple, to be tended to and prayed over. But Deon never recovered. This was too much for Harlan to handle. He blamed himself for his brother’s death. He couldn’t even imagine what his father would think of him, when faced with Deons death, and he didn’t want to ever look his father in the eye. So Harlan fled south, to Baldur’s Gate. Here he found work in the more shadowy parts of town. He didn’t really care what he was doing, as long as the work would keep his mind off the traumatic events in Waterdeep. What he didn’t realize was that his father did not blame him for the accident, and that Harlan’s departure made his sorrow even greater.

History
Harlan always felt a very big responsibility for his younger sister. He got her out of the depressing life in Maiden's Burrow, and helped her get a new life in Waterdeep. Even though he tried to keep her clear from harms way and his way of living, she fell victim to a rival guild. Ultimately he feel that he failed her because he couldn't protect her.
