The Blacklands Eruption

The Blacklands eruption, which occurred on the ? in the year ? of the Elven Age, was a catastrophic event that destroyed an old Elven mage settlement called Blazekeep. The settlement was known for its experiments with the Fire Plane, as its mages sought to unlock new forms of arcane knowledge and enhance their magical abilities.   However, their experimentation led to the opening of a rift, which caused a surge of fiery energy to pour into our world. The eruption unleashed a torrent of molten lava, which flowed like a river, consuming everything in its path. The once-lush forests and fields turned into a desolate wasteland covered with ash and charred remains.
"I will never forget the moment when the ground shook beneath my feet and the air was filled with a thick, acrid smoke that choked my lungs. The fiery energy surged forth from the rift, consuming everything in its path, and my dear friend, Eridriel, was taken by the flames before my very eyes."
— Attributed to Ralathiel, a survivor of the Blacklands eruption.
The disaster also caused the creatures of the land to transform into horrifying fire versions of themselves. These creatures were twisted and deformed, with flaming eyes and razor-sharp claws. They were no longer of this world and had a burning desire for the flesh of living beings.
"The creatures that inhabit the Blacklands are like nothing we have ever seen before. They are twisted and deformed, with fiery energy coursing through their veins. The very fabric of their being has been altered by the Fire Plane, and they have become something entirely new, something dangerous and unpredictable."
— Attributed to Elladwen, an Elven biologist who studies the mutated creatures of the Blacklands.
The death toll of the eruption was high, and many of the inhabitants perished. Those who survived fled, seeking refuge in other settlements, while some of them stayed behind to document the aftermath of the disaster.   The Blacklands remain uninhabitable even years after the eruption, serving as a reminder of the consequences of tampering with forces beyond one's control. The event has been chronicled as a warning to future generations to never repeat the mistakes of the past.
