Sicarius Maleficum
Crafted millennia ago at a celestial forge by long forgotten hands, Sicarius Maleficum exists to excise the blight of demons, devils, and their kin from the material plane. Unlike similar weapons of its type that channel holy might to combat incarnations of evil, Sicarius’ keen edge bites deep into fiendish substance and sunders their essence. It is not meant only for paladins or other holy warriors, but rather for any warrior with a respect for life and the welfare of others.
You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. While attuned, you have advantage on saving throws against spells cast by fiends.
Fiend Slayer. When you hit a fiend with this weapon, the fiend takes an extra 3d6 slashing damage. Once per day, the wielder can turn a successful melee weapon attack against a fiend into a slaying strike. The fiend must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw, taking an additional 6d10 slashing damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. The power recharges at the following dawn.
Blessed Resistance. When you fail a saving throw against a spell cast by a fiend, you can choose to succeed instead. You can use this power once per day, recovering it at the following dawn.
Sentience. Sicarius Maleficum is a sentient neutral good weapon with an Intelligence of 18, a Wisdom of 14, and a Charisma of 15. It has hearing and normal vision out to 60 feet.
The weapon understands Common, Celestial, Abyssal, and Infernal. Though it cannot speak aloud, it can communicate telepathically with any creature that carries or wields it.
Personality. Sicarius speaks in a friendly voice and has a wry sense of humour. Its purpose is to slay fiends, particularly demons and devils. Conflict may arise with its wielder if the wielder spares fiends in battle, refuses to engage them, or allies with them. If it wins the Charisma contest that results from conflict, it usually breaks its attunement with the wielder, effectively becoming a mundane weapon.
