Fairhaven

The village of Fairhaven is the third known fort town settled on the Western coast of the mysterious Anchorome continent. Now the only remaining place of 'civilized' proletariats, the colony draws its success from the adventurers who helped settle the town and lead it to (more or less) success. Nearly two months travel from the settled continent of Faerun, Fairhaven consists of hardy frontier folk numbering in the hundreds. Fairhaven grew from a farm or two, a rest house, and a smithy. The adventurers brought in a sufficient amount of coin and treasure that helped to build up the town. Desperate travelers, merchants, artisans, and tradesmen who sailed to the colony in hopes to start a new life or score it big added to the settlements influx. The rest house became a thriving inn, more farmers and herdsmen followed, then came lumberers and hunters. Trade became good and the land was untroubled by outlaws or ravaging beasts (thanks to the adventurers). The area was too free, too beautiful, too bountiful, at least in the eyes of some. But over time the adventurers grew old, the settlement grew in size, and there was too much to watch over. The lands surrounding Fairhaven once again grew more and more dangerous and trade grew more and more scarce. Could Fairhaven succumb to the same fate as the other failed colonies before it?

Demographics

A variety of races inhabit the town. Slightly more than half of the population is human, and the rest is made up of the other core races: dwarves, elves, gnomes, half-elves, half-orcs, and halfling.

Assets

As a frontier hamlet, Fairhaven only offers mundane items for sale up to 100 gp in value on a regular basis. Having connections across the ocean in Waterdeep, it is possible to get much more, but special requests have to be made with the harbor master which likely includes a hefty fee.

Geography

The area immediately surrounding Fairhaven is about as safe as it can be for a fort town on a distant continent. Hunters, fishers, loggers, and any other occupation often find themselves wandering these first several miles outside of the town out of necessity but rarely lumber further into the savage wilderness. This land surrounding Fairhaven consists mostly of rolling plains with scattered woods good for the minimal hunting and logging.
