Lord Protector of Neverwinter

The Lord Protector of Neverwinter is the ruler of the city of Neverwinter and its environs. Established by Dagult Neverember in 1469 DR, the Lord Protector is responsible for the reconstruction and governance of the city, in the absence of any true heir to Neverwinter's throne.
Dagult Neverember created the title for himself on the grounds that he is a descendant of Vers Never, the bastard son of Nasher Alagondar, a former Lord of Neverwinter. While this claim has been disputed by some, and rumours of true heirs to the Alagondar line have begun to surface, Lord Neverember has come to be seen as a strong leader by the people of Neverwinter, despite his authoritarian tendencies.
