My Summer Camp plan for 2024

Week 1: get yourself organized!

Assignment 1:
Consider what kind of changes would fit in with your world's themes, genre, and other foundational points.
Serene is becoming the centre point of a rebellion, which could threaten to destabilize the whole area, continuing the independence war.

Week 1 Theme: Change.

  • How did the sea-based religion change when people first exited Serene, away from the Sea?
  • How did the regular day of the farmers, artisans, merchants, soldiers and ruling class, change when they became part of entrelai?
  • How was their relationship back then? How are they now?
  • How did the war affect Entrelai's relationship with other countries?
  • How did the social net in Spiralai change after the war, with the slave influx?
  • How did the slaved population change their custom, after their forced relocation
  • How did the war changed and nurtured Greenleaf?
  • How did it continue to evolve after the war finished?
  •
    Assignment 2:
Based on this, decide how many prompts you'll go for during Summer Camp. Then, download the pledge document and fill it accordingly!
Since I have a wedding at the end of July and I'm making my dress for it, I am getting into improv and other related hobbies, I think I should take the Bronce option. If the prompts inspire me, I could always go further.

    Assignment 3:
Get your categories and tags organized!
I have spent the last week, making sure all my articles are correctly tagged and categorised. I have also spent some time, re-reading them to reconnect with my world.

    Week 2: Styling and Accountability

    Assignment 1:
Consider what kinds of refuge would fit in with your world's themes, genre, and other foundational points.

    Week 2 Theme: Refuge

  • Which refuges did the slaved population in Spiralai found, after their forced relocation?
  • Which refuges did those who did not were captured use?
  • Do those refuges still exist after 100 years?
  • What made Serene, the Stranded Ship such a good refuge, when it was first found and inhabited?
  • Are those the same reasons making it such a good refuge now?
  • How do the people of the The Conclave find refuge from the elements when seafaring?
  • which measures took The capital, Spiralai to prevent and deter from an slave insurection after the war?
  • Have those measures changed today?
  •
    Assignment 2:
Prepare yourself: Find an accountability buddy
This has been settled with a friend, reading my world. I have also set things into motion to hopefully joins a chapter to help with motivation inside and outside SummerCamp.
    Assignment 3:
Find ways to improve styling and layout in your world!
I need some serious time to do this. At the moment, the list were to close to the left border of the screen, which was bugging me. I have changed them slightly to the right.

    Week 3: Inspiration and images

    Assignment 1:
Consider what kind of beliefs would fit in with your world's themes, genre, and other foundational points.
My world does not have a Pantheon, since it is earth-based. But each region has their own set of beliefs, which range from animistic to completely rational.
  • Entrelai:
  • Spiralai: There is a vague reference to Ancestor worship, but the belief in the capital needs to be expanded further. The main inspiration for this area is the classic religions of Rome/Greece
  • Greenleaf: They officially practice the same religion as spiralai, but the emphasis has transferred toward tradition and structure, instead of Ancestry.
  • Mellomir: The singing spire in the centre of the village, is the centre of worship. The emphasis is put towards value and community.
  • Serene: Since the war, the beliefs in this area are in flux. Originally more towards the animistic side, with the Sea as their main goodness. They put their emphasis on cycles, respect towards motherhood and cooperation.
  • The forest: Many communities, Fully animistic, but with no details work out yet. The main inspirations are Indigenous tribes / prehistoric beliefs with a numenera twist.
  • Conclave: Their two main deities are The Sea, just like the Serene and the Elders, gigantic structures between the archipelago and the open sea. Their emphasis is on generosity, cooperation and respect towards the elders. The main inspirations are Papua New Guinea and other Pacific cultures.
  • Assignment 2:
Create a bank of inspirations! Quotes, music, description of experiences and shower thoughts, etc. Review and renew your inspirational images for this year themes.
I have reviewed my inspirational images and moved those that match this year's themes to their gallery, for ease of access.

Week 4: Home and author page

    Assignment 1:
Consider what kind of decay would fit in with your world's themes, genre, and other foundational points.
Set in a confluence of paths and rivers. Entrelai has become very prosperous since the first colonists arrived at the protected city, which they called Spiralai. But in the generations, which have passed since it was crowned a kingdom, its influence has started to decay. Their neighbours worry about hostile movements in the frontiers and more and more often, a lack of etiquette and/or aggressive negotiations, using force if necessary is no longer considered out of the ordinary with foreign dignitaries of smaller countries.
  • How is this change of attitude reflected in the different capital groups? Is it also affecting smaller groups inside the country?
  • Are the other powers in the area reacting to this decay in any significant way?
  • What are the institutions reflected in this change of attitude?
  • Are there groups or characters which are advising against it? Who are they and are they facing any consequences for their actions?
  • How is decay seen by all cultures? what is their relation to death?
  • Entrelai: They see decay as offensive. A prelude to death, something to hide and escape from.
  • Serene: Decay as a sickness of the soul, normally caused by not communing with the sea frequently. They see the death of the body, as something natural but to be wary of due to the sea's ability to give new life to what has died
  • Forest: Decay and death are but the prelude to new life
  • Conclave: Decay and death are related, they are the luring call of the elders to return to where they have come from
  • Sky City: Decay and Death are not related. Decay as improper care of the decayed creature. Death is a necessity/obligation towards the city to allow for new generations to serve it.
  • Assignment 2:
Review your world homepage to hook potential readers! and Take a look at your author profile.
I have reviewed and polished a few things, but I suspect a bigger overhaul will be needed not just for the homepage, but also the categories pages.
