CinderMoore

"Tempered by fire, we endure"

History

Cindermoore is an ancient city whose roots reach back to the era before the end of the Deep Night . According to legend, the first Draconics founded Cindermoore, ruling for centuries with a blend of might and manipulation. Their wealth and power grew as humans flocked to the city, lured by promises of prosperity if only they pledged loyalty to the draconic families. But this allure of intrigue attracted Kekorah, God of Trickery, whose influence fueled chaos for decades. In his wake, the nights became perilous, with assassinations, abductions, and poisons commonplace.

This spiral of treachery led to the catastrophic “Day of Cinder.” The once-unified Draconic lineage fractured into two ruling houses, each vying for control. When one family summoned a mighty red drake to obliterate the other, they misjudged his ambition. Declaring himself the rightful ruler, the drake attempted to raze Cindermoore to claim the ashes for his throne. As the city’s citizens fled to the sea, watching their home burn, Kekorah and Vorath, God of Fear and Hunger, delighted in the devastation. However, Myrakka, Goddess of Darkness, was outraged; the night, though perilous and trying, was a realm of life, stillness, and mystery, not unbridled chaos.

Never one to belittle herself by asking for the new god's help, Myrakka’s anger gave birth to her twin daughters, Lunara, Goddess of Dreams and Nyssa, Goddess of Shadows . They emerged as two new moons in the sky, bringing both her midnight depths and the gleaming light of Seraphina’s influence to a night that had always been devoid of any brightness. Lunara blanketed the city in clouds to quench the flames, while her sister, Nyssa, cast a radiant light that forced the red drake and remaining Draconics to flee. With their combined powers, Cindermoore was saved, and no draconic dared return to its borders again.

Now

Today, Cindermoore has been rebuilt from red stone, a constant reminder of the fires that nearly destroyed it. The citizens hold the twin goddesses in highest reverence, with a special respect for Myrakka, who gave them her daughters as protectors. During the Heavenly Clash, they sided with the New Gods, despite their respect for the goddess of darkness.

After the Sundering, the city, like so many others, was dealt a heavy blow. However, thanks to Lunara’s ever-present clouds, they were blessed with water and fertile lands, allowing them to survive in the arid Vulpine Wastes. Nyssa’s radiance still lights up the city at night, deterring most threats from encroaching.

Now, Cindermoore is a destination for adventurers seeking fortune. As the primary export hub of God Shard , particularly from the infamous Crystaldust, Cindermoore has become essential to trade in the region. So abundant are the shards that it has replaced coin entirely, with the iridescent crystals now forming the foundation of the city’s economy. Vowing to never again be ruled by tyrants, the city is governed by the council of Luminaries, composed of representatives from various guilds, families, and temples. The council consists of seven members, each representing key aspects of Cindermoore’s society.
