Halflings

"By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail"

History

Halflings are a unique race born from Seraphina, Goddess of Light's power manifested upon a goblin, although they like to keep this fact as hidden as possible. Seraphina, in her orderly wisdom, gifted a goblin clan with her most prized possessions: the love of light, law and clarity. So different were they to a normal goblin, that no common ground could be found, and so they parted ways and travelled west to join the other Kin.

These industrious folk are characterized by their studious and methodical nature, taking great care in their notekeeping and community organization. In their villages, a rigid structure is paramount, with a village chief overseeing affairs and clearly defined roles for each member—be it the bookkeeper, the tax collector, or various other essential positions.

Their love for the light permeates their lives, fostering an overall good disposition and a sense of optimism that resonates throughout their communities. Halflings thrive in environments that reflect their values of order and clarity, and are most commonly seen in little villages throughout the Fingers or in Bastion , where Seraphina's ideals shine brightest. These villages are usually built with cut stone, and either thatch or tiled roofs. Some say the halfling's nature has not fully changed from a goblin though, as some have a certain dark streak or a love for gloomy holes and isolation. These few halflings are still welcome in their communities, but they typically dwell on the outskirts of villages and towns, and tend to worship Nyssa, Goddess of Shadows even above Seraphina. For while they still love the light, it's the shadows it casts that draw them in the most.

Now

As a recent Kin, halfings are not very common, but common enough that most people have seen one at one time or another. They are treated respectfully and warmly by most, probably helped by the fact that very few know of the halfings true origins (including halflings themselves).

While not very adventurous, prefering to keep to their orderly towns, their thirst for knowledge and harmony still makes them frequent travellers and diplomats. They make excellent bookeepers for any town they are in, but their over zealous nature can grind on other Kin at times, as a halfling's way of doing things is the way things must be done.
