Stormrider Khanate

"Strike like the storm, with hooves of thunder"

History

The Stormrider Khanate as a people have existed for centuries, favored by Zar'Khan, God of War. A nomadic people, they pride themselves on warrior might, honor, and a strong sense of community. Their prominence surged during the Heavenly Clash, when their voices echoed the fierce warcries of Zar'khan through the battlefield. It is said that all retreated in fear as the Khanate charged, the hooves of their horses sounding as if approaching thunder.

In the grasslands, where brutal battles raged against beasts and twisted experiments of the old gods, the Stormriders proved their mettle time and again. Alongside Zar'khan's Iron Golem, they purged the land of the old gods’ devotees and silenced the monstrous threats that plagued the region, safeguarding the lives of their fellow grasslanders.

The Sundering marked a turning point for the Khanate, as their power swelled further. Unlike many, they were never deeply connected to magic, and the 'death' of arcane arts went largely unnoticed among their ranks except for a few storm shamans. Their nomadic lifestyle offered little disruption during the fifty years of darkness that followed, as static cities withered in the face of the sky's obstruction. Instead, the Khanate thrived, expanding across the once-vibrant lands now left barren and abandoned.

Now

Today, they dominate the grasslands, and those who dwell within their territory pay tribute or acknowledge the Khanate’s authority. Yet, the refuge in the central continent views their expansion as a looming threat, with only the Iron Pass preventing them from pouring east and conquering all before them. Conversely, the Khanate perceives the resurgence of magic as a dire menace to everything they have accomplished, and whispers of a preemptive strike against the 'soft' eastern folk echo through their encampments, fueled by a desire to quash any potential opposition before it can rise.
