Session 027: Dream Team
General Summary
We begin outside of Tidehaven as North Wind leaves at the end of a long, long day. The group decides to make it a bit longer by going to find the Market of Midnight advertised on the job board as occurring on the fifth of Evening. They make their way to the Timber district to find where the stone meets the tree, stopping for coffee before they track down the entrance to the Market. They discover a below-Boards wonder filled with delightful items and delicious scents.
The group wanders the market for a few hours and finds a few treasures at various stalls. Talasea discovers an invisible salesman with only four magic items, including a carved bone wand. Mohr stumbles upon some Winterian pastries. Jack finds some secondhand armor and a gift for Thomas. Zenith picks up materials for spell scrolls. Aphid picks up fabrics for wedding attire.
Eventually, they stumble home with their finds.
That night, they dream.
Zenith dreams of sand dunes and sun and a woman whose countenance shifts with her mood. She tells him to find the oasis she shows him and show that he is worthy.
Jack dreams of the same dark room, but now sees a dark doorway. A shadowy figure stops Jack from passing through. When it speaks, it uses Kane’s voice and introduces itself as Avarice. It mentions the fears of monsters under the bed and attests that it wants to live.
Mohr dreams of a warm cabin and the kind face of the Snowmother. She is shown her mother and her brother. She is told to remember the price of what they do and to remember that she is not alone.
Aphid dreams of a loom that dwarfs him in a way even the loom of home did not. A woman of similar size grins down at him. She asks him if he will be ready for the hard times to come and tells him to find her when he returns home.
Talasea dreams of stars. Stars meeting the water, a star falling upwards to break the surface, a star touching Tal’s skin and turning him to star stuff. Something recognizes something in him, but isn’t quite ready to click into place.
The group wakes the next morning, understandably emotional. They manage to make plans. A quick Sending to Saeng confirms that they will be leaving at sun down. Another to Pretihn sets up a lunch time meeting for Zenith. A trip to the Flint and Fire is planned. They set out for the day.
Zenith goes to Marketheart once again. He picks up the clothing he commissioned for Pretihn, Dalmira, and himself. He shares a sweet goodbye with his family.
And the group prepares themselves to leave Halitara and head towards the next step of their journey.
