Session 040: Welcome to Spring
General Summary
We begin as the North Wind enters the Spring Kingdom.
A friendly Valleyguard, Ava, welcomes them to the kingdom and tells them about the Canvas Valley, ensuring that they know not to litter or mess with the wildlife. The group immediately sets out to find a daisy rabbit and give it half a carrot. Aphid speaks to it. It's very polite.
They stop at the Allspace. Jack and Mohr make the two hour trek up the stairs while the others take a teleport offered by Allspace staff. Talasea talks to the Steward, Reynold Whitton, and puts his full actual name and group affiliation down on the register in order to receive the teleportation sigil for the Allspace. Meanwhile, Zenith and Aphid go a floor down and spend some time at the alters for the Spring and Summer goddesses. Aphid buries an offering to the Spring Goddess and tries to connect with Her, to "find" Her as She instructed. He feels a hand take his, but sees no one. Zenith purchases some charcoal to burn for the Summer Goddess and an image forms in the flames. An individual approaches and coimments on that, saying they've never seen it do that before. Introduces themself as Lao, a priest of the Flameseeker. They chat. Lao shares that the Summer Goddess appreciates someone that forges their own path, so it's hard to follow her in the wrong manner.
When Mohr gets to the top, she locates the altar for the Snowmother. Rolls a nat 20 wisdom check and has a moment in which she is transported (not sure if physically or simply spiritually) to a mountain top and with the Snowmother beside her, watches the sun set over Mohr's hometown. The Snowmother warns that there will be "cold times" on the path coming up ahead and says to keep the party warm.
They all convene at the bottom of the Allspace and watch the actual sun set to the East.
They continue towards the nearest town, lamps along the main road lighting their way. They arrive in Chippinshire a number of hours later. The image of a peaceful and cozy Springish town is somewhat interrupted by the sound of shouting. They come upon a well-dressed halfling having a very loud and seemingly aggravated conversation (about tomatoes apparently?) with a slightly smaller and disheveled gnomish person. As soon as the halfling notices the group, he cuts off and welcomes them, introducing himself as Mayor Bobert Butterfeld. The gnome introduces herself as Colby. Bob recognizes Aphid and notes that his brother was worried about him. He invites them to attend the Cherry Snow festival in two days' time. Colby offers to give them a tour of the Weave and scurries off (with her boar) before Bob can continue their conversation.
The party gets rooms at the Welcome Inn, Jack offering his musical services in exchange for free lodging the next night. A woman named Agropona wanders up and asks to play with Jack for a time, taking out her lute. Afterwards, she notes that flowers wait for no man and that she would be happy to do a reading some time.
The next morning, Colby shows up bright and early to escort the group on their tour. They have breakfast and Colby tells them that other than food, the big thing that happens at the festival is Floramancy reading. She begins to describe the Weave, but decides it'd be better to show them.
And so they set off to see what Chippinshire has to offer...
