K'ayral

by hughpierre

Summary

Civilization nestled itself into vibrant living coral and illuminated by bioluminescent plants. They were marvels of architecture in an idyllic existence that was pulverized.   As the sea boiled and churned; lethal tsunamis raced through their cities and scattered any survivors.

Historical Basis

The k'ayral were the predecessors to the modern coastal people. Or so some like to say. In some era before writing, there existed a society equal, or superior, to the later Kang.   Underwater ruins, that reveal themselves when the waves recede, are often cited as evidence for such.
Hatun Wamp'u, in particular, is a popular reference point; since it stands far above the waves.

Spread

For all that the k'ayral apparently represent a golden age for the people; only the Deltn of Bird's Feet and certain segments of the Bayn of Hayaqiago have any notion of its existence.

Cultural Reception

Scholars say there has never been any sufficient explanation for the structures beneath the waves. In the same breath, those spouting old wives tales as fact will claim anything to support their position.   Even Achiwa, the Sapa's beachside home, is claimed as one of their ruins. Taken from them.
In these arguments, we see find the true source of these tale. Simply, poor attempts to capture a collective sense of self in a conquered people.
