Gunung Malap Waterfalls

Gunung Malap (Iltarin: Dim Mountain) Waterfalls is one of the Seven Natural Wonder located in Haint. The waterfall is famous for its view of the stars when night approaches.    It gets it name Malap (Dim) due to the lack of light it gets. It's the sense of privacy that makes the waterfalls famous among locals.

Geography

"You slipped off the rock when you proposed me years ago."   "But was it a good proposal?"   "...yes."
Covered in rocks and moss, the waterfalls is a massive slippery slope. One needs to be careful stepping on them as cases of people slipping are common. Fortunately, there are no deaths so far but many returned from their trip with broken backs, legs or arms.   Surrounding the waterfalls is a forest that keeps the area in shades, hence the name.

Fauna & Flora

Esong Birds, Poly-Cats and wild mushrooms are common flora and fauna in the area. You can find poly-cats drinking water or bathing in the waterfall with esong birds at the other side.     Wild mushrooms grew rapidly around the area and locals collect them for delicacies. The abundance of the fungi also serves as food for the poly-cats and esong birds, though the two species sometimes fight over them.   Tourists are allowed to take the mushrooms or feed the cats and birds with it.

Tourism

The view to the stars is absolutely beautiful at the falls, which gives Gunung Malap Waterfalls its other name, Starfalls, worldwide. Many finds their way here for honeymoon or proposing. Due to the traffic, locals decided to open chalets or campsites for couples to stay overnight.
